Recently, GE Healthcare and MediView XR announced the successful deployment of their collaborative achievement — the OmnifyXR Interventional Imaging Suite — at North Star Vascular and Interventional in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, which has been put into clinical use. ThisInnovative interventional imaging suite based on augmented reality technology integrates holographic real-time medical imaging, 3D anatomical model visualization, and advanced imaging techniques, while supporting remote collaboration, promoting precision treatment in interventional procedures.。
The field of image-guided therapy is in a phase of rapid advancement, utilizing sophisticated imaging and visualization solutions to assist in the treatment of various diseases such as cancer and cardiovascular conditions, with nearly no surgical incisions required. However, practitioners face multiple challenges during different interventional procedures, such as compromised positioning due to unclear visual interfaces or screen control areas, and the significant time consumed in adjusting the workspace.
In response to these challenges,GE Healthcare Partners with MediView XRMediView XR Launches OmnifyXR with Microsoft HoloLens Mixed Reality Technology. OmnifyXR can be seamlessly integrated into existing interventional suites, while enhancing efficiency through augmented reality technology., providing support to clinicians in the following areas:
Work Efficiency and Ergonomics
Improving Visualization with 3D Assistance
Collaborative Care
Dr. Jafar Golzarian is a professor of radiology and the founder of North Star Vascular and Interventional,In the world's first clinical application of OmnifyXR, he performed two separate interventional surgeries — knee artery embolization and prostate artery embolization.Dr. Jafar Golzarian stated: "The head-mounted display and augmented reality features of OmnifyXR, especially the 3D anatomical views provided by holographic real-time imaging, are revolutionary, allowing us to approach treatments from a completely new perspective."I am delighted to be part of the team that completed the first case and look forward to seeing more cases where OmnifyXR helps patients and doctors improve clinical outcomes."
Amin Astani, M.D., of North Star Vascular and Interventional, shared: "OmnifyXR Will Change the Way We WorkWith the help of GE HealthCare's Allia IGS platform, we can create a highly detailed 3D generative model in a short period of time., without the need to maintain sterility by taking off sterile gloves during the surgical procedure. OmnifyXR can place 3D models almost anywhere in the room, around which we can walk and evaluate from different angles, allowing for more precise decision-making regarding surgical plans and processes."
