On June 24, HKIC, known as the "Hong Kong version of Temasek"(HKIC)Announced the second strategic partner, BioMap, co-founded by Baidu founder Robin Li and Baidu Ventures President Liu Wei, signing a strategic cooperation agreement.
HKIC will provide comprehensive resource matching and support for BioMap's subsequent development in Hong Kong, promoting Hong Kong's development into an international bio-computing hub. Hong Kong Financial Secretary Paul Chan said, "The integration of artificial intelligence and life sciences is opening new frontiers in biocomputing. Hong Kong has a solid foundation in both areas and should strive to accelerate the development of biocomputing to seize the 'first-mover advantage'." He pointed out that Hong Kong's thriving innovation and technology ecosystem, advancements in AI infrastructure, convergence of domestic and international data, as well as its advantages as an international financial center, provide a strong foundation for the development of biocomputing.
HKIC CEO Ms. Chen Jiaqi stated that HKIC will lead the new round of financing for BioMap, with the investment amount undisclosed.Chen Jiaqi mentioned that the strategic cooperation between the two parties has four key points, including BioMap prioritizing Hong Kong as its IPO listing location.
Chen Jiaqi pointed out that BioMap has currently established the large model "XTrimo," which has over 100 billion parameters, described as the largest of its kind. It has reached the cutting-edge level in fields such as protein structure prediction, antibody sequence generation, and cell characterization, enabling scientists to more accurately simulate biological characteristics from proteins to system levels, facilitating breakthroughs in medical research.
