Recently,GE Healthcare Achieves First Installation of Its Next-Generation Hybrid Operating Room Robot, Allia IGS Pulse System, in the U.S.
The installation site is located in the cardiac electrophysiology lab at the New Mexico Heart Hospital, part of the Lovelace Medical Center in Albuquerque, to plan, guide, and monitor the outcomes of electrophysiology procedures, including cardiac ablation, cardiac catheterization, transcatheter aortic valve replacement, as well as balloon and coronary angioplasty.
Allia IGS Pulse System Receives U.S. FDA 510(k) Clearance on October 16, 2023.

The Allia IGS Pulse system, based on the award-winning Allia Image Guided Therapy Platform, is designed to improve the diagnostic and treatment workflow for cardiovascular diseases in interventional cardiology centers.

The all-new Allia IGS Pulse offers a personalized workspace to meet the specific needs and preferences of operators. As part of the new imaging chain, the system uses a monopolar X-ray tube to capture images during interventional procedures, making it the first of its kind to deliver powerful and quiet imaging capabilities. Additionally, its small footprint helps clinicians achieve steep angles for better visualization of coronary anatomy.
Moreover, the Allia IGS Pulse system delivers excellent image quality and optimized dose management for patients of all body types, including large and obese patients with a BMI greater than 30.It also adopts the AI-based next-generation AutoRight Plus intelligent imaging chain. This helps to optimize seven parameters in real time, including focal spot shape.
In Spain, GE Healthcare completed the world's first installation of the Allia IGS Pulse system, which the company expects to be a growth tool in this important interventional cardiology market.

Shortly after the approval of Allia IGS Pulse, GE Healthcare announced a new collaboration with Boston Scientific in the field of cardiac imaging.
Based on the Allia IGS Pulse system, GE Healthcare has launched INTERACT Touch as a new feature of the Allia platform. INTERACT Touch allows clinicians to freely access third-party devices and control up to three different third-party devices through a touch-control system without compromising the sterile environment. Through the integrated touch-control system, clinicians can instantly access the essential technologies and information required during surgery, enabling a seamless workflow that helps clinicians focus on patient care.
GE Healthcare is committed to building a robust ecosystem around the Allia platform, and the first third-party device to use interactive controls is Boston Scientific's AVVIGO+ Multimodal Intraoperative Navigation System.

By integrating the AVVIGO+ system with the Allia imaging system and interactive touch control system, clinicians can achieve multimodal control with just one click.
Philip D. Rackliffe, President and CEO of GE Healthcare’s Image Guided Therapy business, said: "As we work to expand our core Allia platform, we will continue to seek ways to reduce complexity and improve the operational environment. Today’s interventional cardiology practice demands flexibility and adaptability, and INTERACT Touch provides a seamless interface that delivers technology capable of improving patient care. Our collaboration with Boston Scientific helps bring this new ecosystem, rooted in the Allia platform, into clinical practice, providing clinicians with innovative technology, multimodal control, and a seamless workflow experience—all at the touch of a button."
In addition, GE Healthcare has launched new enhanced imaging tools, including 3D Stent, the OmnifyXR visualization suite, Tube Watch, and Mac-Lab.
3D Stent
Among them, 3D Stent is one of the latest tools provided by GE Healthcare on the Allia system, designed to offer clinicians intuitive 3D images for stent visualization without the need for additional contrast, equipment, or cost.

With 3D Stent, clinicians have an intraoperative tool for 3D reconstruction of coronary stents using CMCT7 imaging. Images are acquired through automatic rotation of the C-arm, providing 3D and multiplanar views that allow clinicians to observe the stent from all angles and obtain the necessary information (including area and diameter measurements) with just one acquisition during the procedure, without the need to insert any additional devices.

In addition to 3D Stent, the visualization suite OmnifyXR, co-developed with MediView, can further expand the 3D capabilities of GE Healthcare's image-guided systems through an augmented reality solution for interventions. It is reported that OmnifyXR allows users to simultaneously display up to four customized real-time imaging holographic projections to help improve ergonomics, regardless of working position. Users can also display 3D volumetric images in augmented reality to enhance anatomical visualization, helping clinicians better evaluate complex anatomical structures and inform clinical decision-making. The solution also features remote collaboration capabilities, enabling clinicians to collaborate, train, and promote collaborative treatment from a clinician's perspective.

"The Birth of the Hybrid Operating Room Breaks Down Disciplinary Barriers"
Hybrid operating rooms are also widely used across various clinical fields in medicine, meeting the needs of multiple disciplines. They are extensively applied in interventional surgeries within thoracic and cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, vascular surgery, hepatobiliary surgery, and more. A hybrid operating room that can simultaneously perform medical imaging diagnostics, interventional treatments, and surgical operations to some extent represents the future trend of medical development.
In China, nearly all national medical centers and regional medical centers have hybrid operating rooms as a basic configuration. As a result, the demand for hybrid operating rooms will continue to grow. Going forward, Instrumentation Station will continue to monitor the latest developments in the integration of operating room technologies.
