GSK and CureVac Announce Restructuring of Collaboration into New Licensing Agreement to Prioritize mRNA Development Activities; CureVac to Receive Approximately €1.5 Billion

Under the terms of the new agreement, GSK will take full responsibility for the development and production of these candidate vaccines. GSK will have the right to commercialize these candidate vaccines globally.This agreement represents the latest step in GSK's ongoing investment in vaccine platform technology, aiming to develop the best-matched platform for each pathogen to create potentially "best-in-class" vaccines. mRNA is a highly adaptable vaccine technology capable of addressing rapid viral strain changes and demonstrating application potential against emerging viruses.GSK continues to develop and optimize its mRNA platform capabilities through investment and collaboration, including AI/ML-based sequence optimization, and the design and production of nanoparticles.
According to the agreement,CureVac to Receive €400 Million Upfront Payment and Up to €1.05 Billion in Development and Regulatory MilestonesThe new agreement replaces all financial terms of the previous cooperation agreement between GSK and CureVac.CureVac retains the rights to undisclosed projects from prior collaborations that have been preclinically validated and target infectious diseases, and has the right to independently or collaboratively develop mRNA vaccines for any other infectious diseases or indications.
