July 5, 2024, Shanghai·Suzhou·Chengdu, China - Immunofoco, a biotechnology company dedicated to breakthroughs in the development of immunocellular therapeutic drugs for solid tumor treatment, announced that it has received a notice of patent grant from the China National Intellectual Property Administration for its innovative patent application titled "Chimeric Antigen Receptor Comprising CLDN18.2 Single-Domain Antibody and Its Application." The CAR-T product IMC002 currently under development by Immunofoco is based on this patented technology and is currently undergoing Phase I registrational clinical trials.

The Phase I registrational clinical trial of this product has been initiated at several research centers, including the First Medical Center of the Chinese People's Liberation Army General Hospital (Beijing 301 Hospital), the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University, Shandong Cancer Hospital (Jinan), Fujian Cancer Hospital (Fuzhou), the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine (Hangzhou), the First Affiliated Hospital of Naval Medical University (Shanghai Changhai Hospital), West China Hospital of Sichuan University, and the First Affiliated Hospital of Xiamen University, recruiting patients with advanced gastric cancer and pancreatic cancer.Existing data has preliminarily shown the safety, tolerability, and efficacy of IMC002 in advanced gastric cancer and pancreatic cancer.
In a previously conducted IIT clinical study, three patients with advanced unresectable gastric cancer received low-dose IMC002 infusions. No dose-limiting toxicity (DLT) or serious adverse events (SAE) occurred during treatment, demonstrating good safety. Preliminary efficacy data showed that all three patients achieved stable disease according to RECIST 1.1 evaluation. Notably, two of these patients successfully converted to receive radical surgery at week 11 and week 44 post-infusion, respectively. The pathological examination of the patient who underwent surgery in the 44th week showed pathological complete response (pCR), and maintained complete response at the 2-month and 5-month postoperative follow-ups.
Since the beginning of 2024, Immunofoco has successfully obtained four invention patent authorizations, covering chimeric antigen receptor sequences and multiple technology platforms, such as the SNR technology platform addressing tumor heterogeneity, the T-Booster technology platform promoting T cell infiltration and expansion, and a high-throughput technology platform for constructing and screening chimeric antigen receptors. The acquisition of these patents not only strengthens Immunofoco's intellectual property barriers but also provides a solid foundation for the company’s continuous innovation and product development.
