Cancer Treatment New Drug Developer
Recently, Nanjing IASO Biotherapeutics Co., Ltd. released clinical data and single-cell multi-omics analysis results for Ixcellen, a fully human BCMA-targeted chimeric antigen receptor autologous T-cell injection, in the treatment of central nervous system autoimmune diseases.
The investigator-initiated exploratory clinical study (NCT04561557) evaluating the safety and efficacy of infusing Icarus Bio's Iciclenin injection for the treatment of relapsed/refractory antibody-mediated idiopathic inflammatory neurological diseases is currently being conducted at Tongji Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
The study enrolled 12 subjects with aquaporin-4 (AQP4) antibody-positive relapsing/refractory neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD). The enrolled subjects were patients who had been treated with at least one immunosuppressant for more than a year but had poor symptom control. The results showed that the injectable Icaritin demonstrated good tolerability and safety, a durable pathogenic antibody clearance effect, and potential clinical efficacy in NMOSD. CAR-T cells with chemotactic properties can penetrate the blood-brain barrier into the central nervous system, directly killing abnormal plasma cells, reducing intrathecal autoantibody secretion and abnormal immune cell activation, thereby correcting the immunological disorder state in the central nervous system of NMOSD patients, which is conducive to central immune reconstitution in patients.
