(VCBeat) Jan. 24, 2021-- Zhuhai-based Rotex Technology Inc. ("Rotex") announced the closing of a Series Pre-A round of financing worth tens of millions, led by Qirong Venture Capital, with additional support from Shanghai Aisi Capital, Hengqin Financial Investment and Shenzhen Taiji Capital. Proceeds from this round of financing will be mainly used for product R&D, capacity improvement and marketing.

Previously, Rotex received ¥10 million angel round financing from Empower investment in 2016.

Founded in 2015, Rotex is a leading global platform-level flexible electronic technology company. Rotex's self-developed electronic tattoo/skin can be widely used in human-computer interaction, medical health, consumer electronics and industrial fields.

At present, Rotex has reached a deep strategic cooperation with the National Engineering Technology Research Center of Biomedical Materials in China, which promotes the steady progress of marketization and industrialization, and also ensures the mature development of flexible bioelectronics. It is reported that Rotex has applied for 20 invention patents, 20 utility models, 1 design patent, including 5 filed under the PCT.

Based on flexible bioelectronics, Rotex has developed a series of products for transdermal drug delivery, health monitoring and human-computer interaction. In addition to the R&D of medical devices, Rotex has also launched consumer-grade products, which have helped the company achieve profitability in the early stage. The titanium electronic skin mask developed by Rotex based on E-tattoo and E-skin technology has been successfully launched into the market through cooperation with many domestic and foreign brands.

In addition to the field of beauty and skincare, Rotex is also engaged in the medical application of transdermal delivery technology in the field of anesthesia.

Speaking of future development, the officials of Rotex said that the major market of Rotex is in transdermal drug delivery, but based on the company's years of research, Rotex would continue to apply flexible electronics in products of flexible pressure sensors, bioelectronic neural implants, and so on.

At the same time, Rotex, together with the National Engineering Technology Research Center of Biomedical Materials and Sichuan West China Hospital, will reach in-depth cooperation in more medical fields such as body surface sensing and treatment, electronic implants and treatment, and develop the next generation of products in bioelectronics medicines.
