Xinhua News Agency, Beijing (Reporter Zhang Zhaohui) -- On July 29, Lunan Pharmaceutical announced that its product Minoxidil Lotion (trade name: Huifa) has been approved for marketing as a Class A over-the-counter drug.

Minoxidil is a peripheral vasodilator that can promote blood circulation in the scalp, increase blood supply to hair follicles, and thereby promote hair growth. By dilating blood vessels and promoting metabolism in the scalp, it can have an anti-inflammatory effect and improve alopecia symptoms. The clinical indications for minoxidil include the treatment of male pattern baldness and alopecia areata. The recently approved Minoxidil Topical Solution by Lunan Pharmaceutical has a specification of 2% (60 ml: 1.2 g), which, compared to the previously approved 5% specification, can also be used by women.

It is reported that Minoxidil Lotion has the effects of vasodilation, promoting hair growth, anti-inflammation, anti-allergy, and stimulating hair growth, with characteristics such as easy application, minimal toxic side effects, and portability.

A search on the official website of the National Medical Products Administration shows that there are 19 production licenses for minoxidil lotion in China, involving manufacturers such as Shandong Jingwei Pharmaceutical, Shanxi Zhendong Anxin Biopharmaceutical, Zhejiang Saimo Pharmaceutical, Licai Gansu Xifeng Pharmaceutical, Chenguang (Tianjin) Pharmaceutical, Jiangsu Wango Pharmaceutical, Sichuan Meidakang Huakang Pharmaceutical, Zhongshan Wahan Pharmaceutical, and Jiangsu Kangyuan Pharmaceutical.
