On August 5, Guangzhou Bio-gene Technology Co., Ltd. ("Bio-gene") announced that it, along with Shenzhen Nanshan People's Hospital and the Chinese University of Hong Kong, recently published a research paper on chromium metal-immune synergistic CAR-T cell therapy for solid tumors in the internationally renowned top journal *Advanced Materials* (Impact Factor: 27.4). The paper is titled “Photo-metallo-immunotherapy: Fabricating Chromium-Based Nanocomposites to Enhance CAR-T Cell Infiltration and Cytotoxicity against Solid Tumors” (Laser Metal Immunotherapy: Chromium-based Nanocomposites Enhance CAR-T Cell Solid Tumor Infiltration and Cytotoxic Killing Ability).The study announced the frontier research results of chromium metal immunity in CAR-T therapy., demonstrating the potential of chromium metal immunity in enhancing the efficacy of CAR-T cell therapy for solid tumors, and bringing innovative thinking and inspiration to the field of cancer treatment.

The study found that chromium nanoparticles and Cr3+ ions significantly promote the migration of CAR-T cells targeting B7H3 and enhance the release of perforin and granzymes.The research team successfully designed a surface covered withBiodegradable Polydopamine Chromium Nano-Photosensitizer Drug SystemUnder the precise irradiation of near-infrared laser, the chromium complex nanomaterial can induce a high-temperature effect in the local area through the photothermal therapy (PTT) mechanism, effectively killing solid tumor cells.This strategy not only significantly inhibited tumor growth but also actively promoted the secretion of key cytokines in the serum (including IL-2, IFN-γ, TNF-α), thereby enhancing the body's immune response.
Notably, the main degradation product of this nanocomposite, Cr3+, also plays a crucial role in the physiological environment. It can enhance the expression levels of CXCL13 and CCL3 chemokines and induce the formation of tertiary lymphoid structures within tumor tissues.(TLSs). This change has a profound impact on optimizing the infiltration depth and killing efficiency of CAR-T cells at tumor sites, providing new ideas and strategies for achieving more efficient cancer immunotherapy.
