Recently, Aier Eye Hospital Group Co., Ltd. ("Aier Eye Hospital") announced that it plans to buy 5 underlying assets with 1.87 billion yuan (US$271.3 million), involving 30 eye hospitals.

Most of the hospitals proposed to be acquired are rooted in the third and fourth-tier cities in China with relatively limited medical resources, holding the dominant position and good brand reputation in the local area, which is expected to further consolidate the layout of Aier Eye Hospital's prefecture-level hospitals and the construction of its hierarchical medical system.

Aier Eye Hospital is China's leading hospital network in eye care and is also China's first IPO listed medical institution (stock code: 300015, one of the CSI 300 index selected in 2015). AIER has established more than 200 specialist eye hospitals, covering 30 provinces and provides services to 70% of the insured population all over the country with over 4 million outpatient visits annually.

Aier Eye Hospital offers surgery for myopia, prevention and treatment for myopia, treatment for cataract, glaucoma, pediatric ophthalmology, fundus disease, lacrimal disease, and cornea and ocular surface, and eye shaping beauty services.

Aier Eye Hospital is committed to the introduction and adoption of world-leading ophthalmic technology and management concept. Professionalism, scale and science are at the core of its strategy to advance the development of China's ophthalmic medical care.

According to the analysis of one securities company, the acquisition of 30 hospitals is expected to contribute 130 million yuan to Aier Eye Hospital's net profit in 2020. In addition to the 100% equity of Allide Optometry held by Zhongsheng Pharma, Aier Eye Hospital will buy minority stakes in the other 29 hospitals.
