Acepodia, Inc. today announced a strategic clinical collaboration with Pfizer Ignite, a subsidiary of Pfizer.Jointly support the development of its investigational therapies in the field of autoimmune diseases.Pfizer Ignite leverages Pfizer's extensive resources, scale, and expertise, as well as its successful experience in breakthrough drug development, to help biotechnology companies accelerate the innovation process from preclinical R&D through the entire development lifecycle.Under this agreement, Pfizer Ignite will provide strategic guidance and resource support to Acepodia, aiding in the development of potential “first-in-class” cell therapies for cancer and autoimmune diseases.
Acepodia’s Antibody Cell Conjugate (ACC) platform utilizes bioorthogonal chemistry, building on the groundbreaking work of 2022 Nobel laureate Dr. Carolyn Bertozzi in applying click chemistry to living systems, to create an off-the-shelf CAR-T cell therapy that does not require genetic engineering. This therapy is more suitable for scalable production and avoids common side effects of CAR-T cell therapy, such as cytokine release syndrome and neurotoxicity.Acepodia's first clinical-stage candidate drug, ACE1831, is an off-the-shelf γδ2 T cell therapy targeting CD20.It is currently in Phase 1 human clinical trials for patients with non-Hodgkin lymphoma and has demonstrated potent and durable effects after a single treatment at the lowest dose.
