LNZ100 Achieves Positive Topline Results in Phase III Trial for Presbyopia in China with Sustained Efficacy up to 10 Hours

The results showed that LNZ100 (1.75% aceclidine) achieved the primary endpoint and key secondary endpoints, with a significant improvement of three lines or more in near vision under best corrected distance visual acuity (BCDVA), while maintaining the best distance vision (i.e., vision loss must not exceed 5 letters).

• Fast-acting: 84% and 69% of subjects, respectively, in30 Minutes After MedicationThat is, achieving an improvement in near vision of two lines and three lines of letters or better.

• 3 hours after medication: 88% and 74% of subjects achieved improvement of two lines and three lines of near visual acuity or better, while maintaining their best corrected distance visual acuity (i.e., no more than a 5-letter loss).

• Long-lasting efficacy: 61% and 30% of the subjects, respectively, in10 Hours After MedicationStill maintains two-line and three-line letter or better near vision improvement.

LNZ100 was well-tolerated, and no serious adverse events related to the treatment were found in the trial.

This study is a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlledIIIThe clinical trial consists of a 4-week efficacy trial and a total 6-month safety trial, aiming to observe the improvement of near vision in Chinese presbyopic patients by LNZ100 and confirm its efficacy and safety. The study recruited 300 subjects, who are aged between 45-75 years old with a refractive range from -4.0D SE to +1.0D SE, including those who have undergone laser vision correction surgery or monofocal intraocular lens implantation surgery.

Presbyopia, commonly known as "old eyes," refers to the physiological phenomenon where nearby objects gradually become blurry with age. This is caused by the gradual hardening and reduced elasticity of the eye's lens, leading to a decline in the eye's accommodative function, making it unable to focus the image of nearby objects on the retina, resulting in decreased near vision. Presbyopia is an inevitable physiological phenomenon associated with aging. Studies show that in China, the onset age of presbyopia is around 38 years old, with nearly 100% incidence by the age of 52.
