November 11, 2024The IIT study kick-off meeting for a clinical study evaluating the safety and efficacy of artificial regenerated platelets in patients with thrombocytopenia caused by acute leukemia chemotherapy was successfully held at the Shanghai Children's Medical Center.。The hospital leaders, principal investigators (PI), and clinical research team of Shanghai Children's Medical Center affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, along with representatives from Renerval Therapeutics, attended this meeting.This study is the world's first clinical research project on allogeneic artificially regenerated platelet transfusion.。

The meeting began with an opening speech by President Zhang Hao.As one of the largest and most advanced hematology teams in China, the Hematology-Oncology Center of Shanghai Children's Medical Center has long been committed to the standardized and precise treatment of leukemia. It handles over 500 cases of various newly diagnosed and relapsed/refractory leukemia each year, achieving internationally advanced efficacy and accumulating profound experience in treatment and research.President Zhang Hao emphasized that he hopes both parties will closely cooperate in the next phase to jointly advance the project's progress, fully accelerate its clinical application and transformation, provide patients with more innovative treatment options, and resolve the current severe shortage in clinical supply.
Subsequently, the project's clinical research team introduced the existing treatment methods for thrombocytopenia induced by chemotherapy in acute leukemia patients. Representatives from Renerval Therapeutics, the developer of the formulation, presented on the company’s innovative platform and current R&D status, and provided an overview of the protocol for this investigator-initiated trial (IIT). Finally, frontline clinical experts and Renerval Therapeutics' R&D personnel engaged in an in-depth and detailed discussion regarding the therapeutic mechanisms and principles of this project, as well as considerations for its clinical application.
