Five Chinese Pharma Giants Enter Tenth National Drug Volume-Based Procurement with Over 10 Injectable Products Each

　　【Pharmaceutical Network Industry Dynamics】With the "National Centralized Drug Procurement Document (GY-YD2024-2)" clearly including 62 drugs in the tenth round of national drug centralized bulk procurement, it marks the official start of the tenth round of national procurement. This procurement involves a total of 263 items, covering 62 varieties, among which injectables remain the main force, with 37 varieties and a combined sales scale of nearly 30 billion yuan.
 

From the perspective of the companies involved in the 37 types of injectable products, five pharmaceutical enterprises stand out remarkably, each owning more than 10 injectables. They are BRILLIANT PHARMACEUTICALS, Shijiazhuang No.4 Pharmaceutical Co.,Ltd., Kelun, Qilu Pharmaceutical, and YANGTZE RIVER PHARMACEUTICAL GROUP JIANGSU JOINT STOCK CO., LTD.
 

Among them, BRILLIANT PHARMACEUTICALS has 16 injectable agents participating in the tenth round of national procurement in China. These include systemic anti-infective drugs, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular system drugs, digestive system and metabolic drugs, and blood and hematopoietic system drugs. Some of these products generate over 1 billion yuan in revenue, such as Norepinephrine Bitartrate Injection, an adrenergic receptor agonist; Piperacillin Sodium for Injection, an antibacterial drug; Metaraminol Bitartrate Injection; and Ampicillin Sodium for Injection, an anti-infective drug. Notably, Norepinephrine Bitartrate Injection is an α and β adrenergic receptor agonist with strong vasoconstrictive and pressor effects. It is primarily used in anti-shock treatments for toxic shock, cardiogenic shock, and anaphylactic shock. Data shows that the sales of Norepinephrine Bitartrate Injection were approximately 1 billion yuan in 2019 and about 1.2 billion yuan in 2020, showing a year-on-year growth trend.
 

Next is Shijiazhuang No.4 Pharmaceutical Co.,Ltd., which has 15 injectables participating in the tenth national procurement, including cardiovascular and cerebrovascular system drugs, blood and hematopoietic system drugs,Respiratory System Medications, systemic anti-infective drugs, nervous system drugs, digestive system and metabolic drugs. Products exceeding 1 billion include norepinephrine bitartrate injection (adrenergic receptor agonist) and esmolol hydrochloride injection (beta-blocker).
 

Kelun has 12 injectable formulations participating in the tenth round of national procurement in China, including systemic anti-infective drugs, drugs for blood and hematopoietic system, digestive system and metabolic drugs, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular system drugs, etc. Products with sales exceeding 1 billion yuan include the antibiotic drugs piperacillin sodium for injection and ampicillin sodium for injection.
 

Qilu Pharmaceutical has 11 injectable formulations participating in the tenth round of national procurement in China, covering systemic anti-infective drugs, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular system drugs, antineoplastic and immunomodulatory agents, as well as drugs for the digestive system and metabolism. Products with sales exceeding 1 billion yuan include the targeted drug doxorubicin hydrochloride liposome injection, the antibiotic piperacillin sodium for injection, and the beta-blocker esmolol hydrochloride injection.
 

In addition, Yangtze River Pharmaceutical Group also has 10 injectable products participating in the tenth round of national procurement in China, involving cardiovascular and cerebrovascular system drugs, systemic anti-infective drugs, digestive system and metabolic drugs, nervous system drugs, genitourinary system and sex hormone drugs, etc. One product with sales exceeding 1 billion yuan is Roxatidine Acetate Hydrochloride for Injection, which is an H2 receptor antagonist mainly used to treat upper gastrointestinal bleeding in low-risk populations caused by acute stress ulcers, peptic ulcers, and hemorrhagic gastritis. Data shows that the total sales (end-user price) of Roxatidine Acetate Hydrochloride for Injection in China reached 1.199 billion yuan in 2023. The original developer ASKA Pharmaceutical's Roxatidine Acetate Hydrochloride for Injection has not yet been marketed in China. To date, more than 8 pharmaceutical companies in China hold the approval documents, and 11 companies have passed or are deemed to have passed the consistency evaluation for this drug.
 

As the aforementioned companies are set to participate in the tenth round of national procurement negotiations, it remains to be seen who will emerge as the big winner.
