Innovative Drug Developer

On March 6-7, 2025, the NDC2025·Yangtze River Delta New Drug Innovators Summit, hosted by PharmaCircle, will be held in Shanghai! This conference will focus on cutting-edge R&D achievements, hot topics, and popular fields in the biopharmaceutical industry, while also exploring bottleneck issues in the R&D process. Relying on the guest accumulation from the previous eight conferences and PharmaCircle's million-level reach, the summit is committed to creating a platform for exchange and cooperation across the entire industry chain. The conference will pay close attention to areas such as antibody drugs, nucleic acid drugs, small molecule innovative drugs, and conjugated drugs, with in-depth discussions on key topics including early drug development, non-clinical research, process development and production, CMC, and commercialization.
We are honored to have Dr. Shen Wang, CEO of VIVAVISION, to deliver a keynote speech titled 【From Best-in-Class to First-in-Class (Indication): Development Strategy for a Potent Dual Selective JAK Inhibitor】at this conference.

VIVAVISION and InspirePharm (a joint venture between VIVAVISION and Betta Pharmaceuticals) have co-developed a highly active and dual-selective JAK1/TYK2 inhibitor. Based on the market demand, InspirePharm and VIVAVISION have formulated an optimized clinical development strategy for this Best-in-Class (BIC) compound. First, for major indications such as atopic dermatitis, through explorations in Phase 1, Phase 1b, and Phase 2 clinical trials, InspirePharm and VIVAVISION demonstrated that this inhibitor has the potential to outperform upadacitinib, currently the best marketed JAK inhibitor, with BIC characteristics. Second, regarding the side effects caused by unavoidable systemic exposure of JAK inhibitors, a new class of potent immunosuppressants, InspirePharm and VIVAVISION have developed various drug delivery methods targeting specific disease tissues or sites based on the characteristics of the diseases, achieving "high local concentration in diseased tissues" and "controllable systemic exposure." This development strategy has led to a globally leading layout of "First-in-Class (FIC)" or "First-in-Indication," meaning the first in indication development, for localized treatments.
Dr. Shen Wang graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in the United States. After graduation, he held key research and development positions at Abbott Laboratories, Sunesis, Amgen, and other internationally renowned companies. In 2009, he became the founder and president of Kangyuan USA (KanionUSA), an overseas subsidiary of Jiangsu Kangyuan, while also serving as the Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) for new drug development at Jiangsu Kangyuan Pharmaceutical. Dr. Shen Wang has over 25 years of experience in small molecule drug research and development, with nearly 20 years of expertise in the fields of oncology, immunomodulation, metabolic diseases, and antiviral therapies. He has led his team to advance more than 10 drugs into clinical trials, two of which received FDA approval for marketing in the U.S., including Lifitegrast, the only targeted dry eye treatment approved by the FDA in the past decade, and Venetoclax, a landmark anti-cancer blockbuster drug.
