January 13 news: Tune Therapeutics announced the completion of a $175 million Series B financing round, which will be used forAdvance the development of its epigenetic silencing drug Tune-401Tune-401 is a drug targeting chronic hepatitis B (HBV), which treats the disease by modulating gene expression rather than permanently altering the DNA structure. TUNE-401 uses lipid nanoparticles (LNP) to directly deliver RNA encoding activity and targeting HBV into hepatocytes. Inside these cells, the delivered RNA is translated into epigenetic silencing proteins, targeting the integration of hepatitis B virus DNA (intDNA) and covalently closed circular DNA (cccDNA) into the host cell’s genome. Additionally, funding will also be invested in the research and development of other gene, cell, and regenerative therapies at Tune Therapeutics. It is reported that the epigenetic silencing drugs from Tune Therapeutics are developed based on their tempo epigenetic editing platform, which enables drug delivery to cells via lipid nanoparticles.
