Abcuro Announces $200 Million Series C Financing Led by New Enterprise Associates (NEA) with Participation from Foresite Capital; Existing Investors Include RA Capital Management, Bain Capital Life Sciences, Redmile Group, Samsara BioCapital, Sanofi Ventures, Pontifax, Mass General Brigham Ventures, New Leaf Ventures, Aberdeen Managed Funds, BlackRock Managed Funds and Accounts, Eurofarma Ventures, and Soleus Capital.

The proceeds from this Series C financing will be used to complete the registrational Phase 2/3 MUSCLE clinical trial, which aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Abcuro’s potential “first-in-class,” killer cell lectin-like receptor G1 (KLRG1)-targeted monoclonal antibody ulviprubart (ABC008) for the treatment of inclusion body myositis (IBM).If the MUSCLE clinical trial results are positive, Abcuro plans to submit a Biologics License Application (BLA) and will allocate part of the funds to support preparations for commercial launch.
Ulviprubart is an investigational monoclonal antibody therapy targeting KLRG1, which can selectively deplete highly cytotoxic T cells while preserving naïve T cells, regulatory T cells, and central memory T cells. The drug is designed to treat diseases mediated by highly cytotoxic T cells, including inclusion body myositis and T-cell large granular lymphocytic leukemia (T-LGLL).Both the U.S. FDA and the European Medicines Agency (EMA) have granted ulviprubart orphan drug designation for the treatment of IBM.
