It aims to provide a novel immunotherapy solution for patients with recurrent and refractory renal cell carcinoma. This marks another solid tumor pipeline from Hengsai Bio to enter clinical research, following their work on EBV-related nasopharyngeal carcinoma.▲Photo of the Launch Event As one of the "Top Ten Chinese Urological Oncology Centers," the Urology Department of Wuhan Tongji Hospital boasts a multidisciplinary team (MDT) that leads in China in the fields of minimally invasive surgery for kidney cancer and personalized comprehensive treatment. Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is a malignant tumor originating from renal tubular epithelium, accounting for approximately 85% of malignant kidney tumors. Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is the most common pathological subtype of RCC. Among all pathological types of RCC, ccRCC has the worst prognosis, the highest potential for recurrence and metastasis, and is resistant to both radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Advanced ccRCC is an incurable disease with a high tendency for metastasis and recurrence, difficulty in radical treatment, significant individual differences in the efficacy and survival benefits of targeted therapy, severe adverse reactions, and a propensity for drug resistance. Therefore, ccRCC has always been a challenging problem for many patients, imposing a heavy burden on patients and their families. At the launch meeting, the urology expert team led by Principal Investigator Professor Shaogang Wang and Hengsai Biotech's clinical team jointly discussed the key points and challenges of the IIT study on DC vaccine treatment for ccRCC. Both parties clarified the project goals and personnel assignments, demonstrating high expectations and firm confidence in the project’s future development, laying a solid foundation for the efficient advancement of the subsequent project. Dr. Hui-Ning Liu, founder and CEO of Hengsai Biotech, stated: "The unique advantage of DC vaccines lies in inducing long-term immune memory, exerting a lasting anti-tumor effect through precise specific immune responses. This collaboration with Wuhan Tongji Hospital will accelerate the translation of technology from the laboratory to clinical practice. We look forward to DC vaccines providing safe, convenient, and persistently effective treatment options for more kidney cancer patients."About Hengsai Biotech Hengsai Biotech, established in 2018, is an innovative technology enterprise dedicated to the research and development as well as industrialization of dendritic cell vaccines (DC vaccines).
