On March 10, 2025, ROC ROCK Biotechnology, which focuses on macrophage-based drug treatments for solid tumors, announced that it has completedPre-A+ round of financing, which was solely invested by Qingdao Yinghai Antai Equity Investment Partnership (Limited Partnership),The funds will help advance the research and commercialization process of multiple products within the company.
According to WHO (World Health Organization) data, there were 19.758 million new cancer cases globally in 2021, of which approximately 1.305 million were new cases of hematological tumors, accounting for less than 10%. The remaining 90% were new cases of solid tumors. Based on market data and the Delphi expert judgment method, by 2025, the sales revenue of China's anti-tumor drug market is projected to range between 224.2 billion and 294.5 billion yuan, with drugs for solid tumors expected to have a substantial market economic volume.ROC ROCK Biotechnology is a biotechnology company focused on the research, development, and production of macrophage-targeted drugs for solid tumors, actively promoting the industrialization of macrophage drugs in the field of targeted solid tumors. The company has multiple pipelines, concentrating on the treatment of solid tumors, with indications covering 90% of solid tumors. Its lead pipeline, RR-M01, is a third-generation chimeric antigen receptor macrophage drug independently developed for HER2-positive solid tumors. Indications include recurrent and refractory solid tumors such as HER2-positive ovarian cancer, gastric cancer, breast cancer, cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, lung cancer, and pancreatic cancer.ROC ROCK Biotechnology's independently developed third-generation CAR-M was conceptualized in 2010. Building on the original CAR, it incorporates the cytokines essential for the autologous proliferation and activation of macrophages, enhancing the in vivo persistence of CAR-M, altering the tumor microenvironment, and further boosting the phagocytic, tumoricidal, and antigen-presenting capabilities of macrophages. In 2023, ROC ROCK Biotechnology, in collaboration with the Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University, launched an Investigator Initiated Trial (IIT) for the RR-M01 pipeline. The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of CAR-M cell therapy in treating HER2-overexpressing recurrent and refractory ovarian cancer. The RR-M01 pipeline, known for its safety, uniqueness, and maturity, successfully entered the IIT clinical research phase in 2023. It is also the world's first third-generation chimeric antigen receptor macrophage (CAR-M) drug to enter the IIT stage. This clinical study plans to enroll three patients. The first subject is a 65-year-old female who was screened and enrolled in December 2023. Her apheresis collection, as well as CAR-M preparation and quality control, were completed in the middle of the month, and the cell reinfusion treatment was administered by the end of the month.Postoperative vital signs of the subjects were stable, with a strong sense of comfort and good general condition. No severe adverse reactions occurred during the entire follow-up observation period, demonstrating the favorable safety of this cellular drug.At the same time, the clinical symptoms of the subjects gradually alleviated compared to before treatment, and indicators such as tumor markers were also effectively controlled. After discharge, the patients will continue regular follow-up according to the clinical protocol. The launch of this clinical trial brings new hope for the treatment of malignant solid tumors, especially recurrent and refractory ovarian cancer. In order to enable everyone to learn and communicate with each other more effectively,"WeChat Official Account 'Cell Gene Therapy' Team"A WeChat group for cell therapy and gene therapy discussions has been established.
