Developer of Immunotherapeutics for Solid Tumors
Recently, Pan-Earth (Zhongshan) Biopharmaceutical Co., Ltd. ("Pan-Earth Bio") held an opening and production commencement ceremony at the Zhongshan National Health Base Park ("Health Base"). This is not only an important milestone in the development of Pan-Earth Bio, but also marks a key breakthrough in the industrialization process of cell therapy for Zhongshan's "Bay Area Medicine Valley."
During the strategic signing session, Fan'en Biotech, Beihao Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine Research Institute, and Guangdong Kangze Cell Technology Co., Ltd. jointly signed a tripartite strategic cooperation agreement. This collaboration will integrate the superior resources of all parties, accelerate technological innovation in the core business of cell storage, jointly advance novel cell therapies to the international forefront, and inject strong momentum into industry development.
Pan-E Bio settled in the Health Base in September 2023. It was founded by Professor Penghui Zhou, a returned scholar from Harvard Medical School and a leading expert in next-generation cell therapy technology for solid tumors in China. The company focuses on the research and development of immunotherapy drugs for solid tumors and related businesses. The enterprise team has successfully overcome several key technical bottlenecks in the immunotherapy of solid tumors and established several internationally leading cutting-edge core technologies, including precise identification and separation technology of autologous anti-tumor T cells, multi-gene combination technology to reverse the solid tumor microenvironment, and memory T cell induction and culture technology.
Currently, the company has established cooperative relationships with several well-known medical institutions such as the Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center and Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital, jointly conducting multiple tumor research and technology application projects. In July 2024, the TAL-T cell injection developed by FanEn Bio received tacit approval from the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) for clinical trials. This product not only shares the same clonal T-cell advantages as TIL but also features a high culture success rate, short expansion cycle, and low production cost, offering new treatment options for patients with solid tumors.
At the opening ceremony, Professor Penghui Zhou, founder and chief scientist of Funeng Biotech, stated that the company will continue to invest in the research and development and transformation of highly efficient treatment technologies and products for solid tumor immunotherapy. At the same time, it will actively collaborate with medical institutions and research institutes to fully promote innovation and breakthroughs in the cell therapy industry.
Dr. Wangqian Luo, shareholder representative of Fanen Bio and co-founding partner of Huafang Capital, stated that the shareholders highly value the development prospects of the cell therapy industry and the growth potential of the company. In the future, they will provide comprehensive support in terms of funding and resource alignment. They also look forward to the company continuing to deeply cultivate in the field of cell therapy, strengthening technological innovation, breaking through key technologies in solid tumor immunotherapy, accelerating the transformation of scientific research results, enhancing core competitiveness, and striving to become an industry leader, making greater contributions to promoting industrial progress and benefiting a wide range of patients.
In recent years,Zhongshan National Health Base has proactively laid out a new track in cell and gene therapy. By constructing a "technology + talent + capital + policy" four-in-one industrial ecosystem, it has successfully attracted and nurtured a number of high-quality projects, including Pan-En Bio's TCR-T, Zehui Bio's stem cell drug R&D and production base, Guiqi Dan Bio's CAR-T dual-target cell new drug, Junhou Bio's CAR-T retroviral vector CDMO, and Jiayu Bio's CAR-DC. It is fully promoting the collaborative innovation and development of upstream and downstream industrial chains to create a cell and gene therapy industry cluster.
A relevant official from the Health Base stated that Fan'en Biotech, as a model enterprise promoting project implementation through investment, demonstrates strong innovative capabilities, immense growth potential, and sustainable momentum. In the future, the Health Base will continue to optimize the business environment, providing comprehensive service guarantees for enterprises while promoting coordinated development across the upstream and downstream industrial chain, fully advancing the high-quality growth of the regional biopharmaceuticals industry.
