Promoting the Improvement of Pediatric Fundus Disease Prevention and Treatment

In 2024, at the "Finals of the National Maternal and Child Health Professional Skills Competition" held in Beijing,Fuhan Medical's first-generation high-performance product, the KRS-01 Coritong wide-field retinal imaging system, stood out and was selected as the competition evaluation instrument, receiving coverage from CCTV News.With its self-innovated 160-degree ultra-wide-angle technology, this product accurately aligns with the biological processes of pediatric eye diseases, enabling more effective detection of pediatric ocular lesions. Additionally, it features high-speed lossless image transmission and intelligent auxiliary diagnostic technology, significantly enhancing the convenience, efficiency, and quality control level in clinical use.

In July of the same year, the first "pen-shaped" ultra-wide-angle fundus detection system KRS-mini was approved for marketing.This innovative product achieves the POCT (Point-of-Care Testing) of contact-based fundus examination systems, providing a more convenient option for primary healthcare institutions to use pediatric fundus imaging systems. Its ultra-portable design directly addresses the dilemma of equipment shortages in grassroots health management and medical education, gaining widespread popularity. In clinical practice, emergency departments and animal experiments in pharmaceutical research and development have also expressed strong demand for this product.

In September, Fuhan Medical's KRS-02 product also successfully obtained registration certification, becoming a domestically produced tool for conducting fluorescent pediatric fundus examinations in hospitals.

In the past year, with the successive launches of Fuhan Medical's fundus product series, the company team has worked tirelessly, traveling all over China.The 32 provinces and over 200 prefecture-level cities/regions of China have brought effective new methods for the prevention and control of pediatric fundus diseases to areas such as Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia. Innovation Breakthrough

First Contact-Based OCT Breaks International Gap

Fuhan Medical's pioneeringContact-based OCT, filling the technical and product gaps both in China and internationally. Unlike the widely used desktop OCT, Fuhan Medical has pioneered a more portable handheld OCT probe, combined with a contact lens, suitable for retinal examinations in infants and others who cannot cooperate with fixation, opening up new application scenarios and providing doctors with a novel and effective solution.

This product achieves color photography and OCT dual-modal imaging for the first time, providing doctors with multi-dimensional image information. Relying on its accumulated optical design capabilities, the company skillfully integrates the optical paths of ultra-wide-angle color photography and OCT, which operate in different wavelength bands, into a handheld probe weighing only a few hundred grams. The adoption of unique physical optics technology ensures robust control and reduces the impact of stray light; a high light-guiding efficiency structure allows the illumination source to evenly light up the entire fundus; and a larger target surface CMOS restores every detail of the fundus. At the same time, the use of MEMS-based galvanometer mirrors reduces the weight of the probe and enables independent or synchronized focusing control for single-line and dual-beam optical paths. It supports various OCT scanning modes such as cross and rectangular patterns, truly integrating the advantages of true-color fundus imaging and OCT technology.

Currently, there is an urgent clinical need to study the relationship between tissue, cell, protein, gene mapping, omics, and related structural changes in the process of pediatric eye development and disease pathology. The重磅 launch of contact-based OCT will greatly accelerate the aforementioned research efforts, aiding in the expedited innovation of related drugs, treatment methods, medical devices, and rehabilitation approaches, while providing first-hand materials for the formulation of clinical guidelines.

From Demand to Innovation: Building a Powerful Tool for Diagnosis and Treatment

From the launch of Creton 01 Pediatric Fundus Wide-field Imaging System in 2023 to the successive releases of the new-generation products Ultra and Mini, every step reflects the wisdom, clinical practice, and hard work of the collaborating expert team. The first "pen-shaped" pocket fundus imaging system was developed in response to an urgent need raised by experts during regional ophthalmology teaching and support for grassroots medical institutions. The intelligent image quality control system and the nine-grid shooting system addressed key clinical challenges in fundus imaging quality control while making it more convenient for clinicians to use the equipment. The first intelligent pediatric vision tester enables vision testing starting at three months of age, directly tackling the difficulties faced by doctors in China’s 0-6-year-old children's eye care and vision examination work—namely, a shortage of doctors, long examination times, and heavy examination tasks. Additionally, a series of innovations derived from clinical transformations are currently under development.
