On the evening of June 12, BrightGene Bio-Medical Technology announced that it planned to strategically invest in Suzhou Geek Gene Technology Co., Ltd. through capital increase. This transaction marks an important step for the innovative pharmaceutical company in the field of cell therapy.
According to the announcement, BrightGene Bio-Medical Technology plans to acquire 4.1667% equity of Suzhou Geek Gene Technology Co., Ltd. at a consideration of 20 million yuan. This capital increase was completed at a premium. After the transaction, Yong Junjiao will hold 31.2383%, BrightGene's chairman Yuan Jiandong will hold 1.2144%, and BrightGene Bio-Medical (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. will hold 4.1667%.
Since its establishment in 2021, Suzhou Geek Gene Technology Co., Ltd. has relied on a high-throughput omics technology platform to focus on developing innovative T-cell therapies for solid tumors. Its core team brings together scientific research talents from top universities such as Peking University and Harvard University, accumulating extensive experience in single-cell technology development and clinical applications. The company has launched its first tumor-reactive T-cell therapy product, GK01, with preliminary research data showing promising preclinical results.
Borui Pharmaceuticals stated that this investment values Geek Gene's technical accumulation in areas such as cell fate reprogramming and multi-omics data analysis. By integrating the strengths of both parties in innovative drug development and cell therapy technology, synergies are expected to be formed, particularly in building differentiated competitiveness in major disease areas such as cancer treatment.
Notably, despite its technological breakthroughs, Geek Gene has not yet achieved profitability. Several of its R&D projects are still in preclinical or early clinical stages, carrying the risk of not meeting expected development timelines.
After the completion of this transaction, Bori Pharmaceutical's layout in the innovative drug field will further extend to cutting-edge directions such as cell therapy, while Suzhou Geek Gene Technology Co., Ltd. will gain resource support from leading pharmaceutical companies, injecting new momentum into its subsequent research and development and clinical progress. Both parties expressed that they will focus on promoting the collaborative development of technology platforms to accelerate the transformation and implementation of innovative therapies.
