Developer of Tumor Immunotherapy and Gene Therapy Technologies

Pancreatic cancer, known as the "king of cancers," is a major challenge in clinical treatment due to its late diagnosis, rapid progression, and limited treatment options. Recently, a breakthrough in precision treatment for pancreatic cancer has been achieved by a team led by Director Zhao Hong from the Cancer Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, a team led by Deputy Director Ding Xiaoyan from Beijing Ditan Hospital affiliated with Capital Medical University, and Beijing Kerui Biological Technology Co., Ltd., under the National Key Research and Development Program's project "Key Technologies and Research for Novel Immunocyte Treatments for Common Cancers." The innovative TCR-T cell therapy has brought new hope to a patient with advanced pancreatic cancer who had failed multiple lines of treatment.

Medical Case: Technological Breakthrough Brings Hope for Survival

The patient is a 74-year-old male who was diagnosed with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma with liver metastasis in December 2023. After undergoing more than 20 rounds of chemotherapy in total, his disease progressed and he could no longer tolerate further chemotherapy. Molecular testing by the team revealed a KRAS G12V mutation in his tumor, and a single infusion of TCR-T cell therapy targeting this mutation was administered. A follow-up examination 28 days later showed significant shrinkage in all three target liver lesions, achieving partial response (PR) according to RECIST criteria. The tumor marker CA19-9 decreased from 758 U/ml to 78 U/ml, with overall good safety. This case demonstrates the continuous breakthroughs achieved by medical institutions in China at the forefront of international immunotherapy, offering new treatment possibilities for patients with advanced pancreatic cancer.

Expert Interpretation: New Technology Enables Personalized Precision Treatment

Zhao Hong stated, "Digestive system tumors are a significant threat to the health of people in China, and traditional treatment methods are limited, making innovation urgently needed. By relying on the integration and innovation of multidisciplinary resources, the team has continuously promoted the in-depth transformation of cell and gene therapies from basic research to clinical application. This case of TCR-T therapy effectively alleviated the progression of advanced tumors, providing strong evidence for the benefit of patients through original Chinese technology."

Ding Xiaoyan stated, "Pancreatic cancer is known as the 'king of cancers,' with an extremely poor prognosis, and there is an urgent need for innovative therapies. Cellular immunotherapy brings new hope to patients for whom traditional methods are ineffective. This case demonstrates the tremendous potential of TCR-T cell therapy in precise targeting, controllable safety, and significant efficacy. In the future, we hope to continue collaborating with industry, academia, research, and medical sectors to bring more China-originated therapies into clinical practice, allowing innovative technologies to truly become a new dawn for a wide range of cancer patients."

Xie Xingwang stated, "The research and development of innovative drugs are important drivers for the high-quality development of the pharmaceutical industry. The clinical breakthrough of CRTKVA11 TCR-T cell therapy is due to the team's continuous efforts in key technology areas such as TCR target discovery, affinity optimization, and industrial transformation. We firmly believe that only by adhering to originality, being guided by clinical needs, and promoting collaborative innovation between industry, academia, research, and medicine, can we continuously break through industry barriers and push more First-in-Class innovative drugs onto the global stage to benefit patients worldwide."

Technological Novelty and Differentiation Advantages

TCR-T Cell Therapy Enables Precise Recognition and Elimination of Tumor-Specific Driver Mutations (e.g., KRAS G12V), Achieving Personalized Treatment Tailored to Individual Needs. This technology not only overcomes the bottleneck of traditional treatments in drug resistance and highly heterogeneous tumors but also brings significant benefits to patients with refractory advanced cancer through cell-level targeted killing. As a novel therapeutic approach, TCR-T provides a powerful complement to precision medicine for solid tumors, greatly enhancing patients' survival chances and quality of life.

Future Outlook: Innovative Drugs Ignite Hope for Life

In recent years, as medical institutions in China continue to make advancements in the field of innovative drugs and cutting-edge therapies, an increasing number of patients in China are gaining access to novel treatments at the global forefront. Moving forward, relevant teams will continue to explore multidisciplinary collaboration mechanisms in cell and gene therapy, accelerate the transformation of new technological achievements, promote China-originated therapies onto the international stage, and contribute more wisdom and strength towards overcoming the challenges of solid tumors.
