Wenzhou, China — Recently, VIVAVISION, an innovative Chinese ophthalmic drug research and development company invested in and incubated by Viva Biotech,VIVAVISION (Zhejiang) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "VIVAVISION") announced,The China Phase II clinical trial of VIVAVISION's self-developed innovative drug —— VVN1901 eye drops for the treatment of moderate or severe neurotrophic keratitis has recently successfully completed the enrollment and dosing of the first subject.

This clinical study is "An adaptive, randomized, double-blind, vehicle-controlled, multicenter Phase II clinical study evaluating the efficacy and safety of VVN1901 eye drops in patients with moderate or severe neurotrophic keratitis." Professor Yuan Jin from Beijing Tongren Hospital, Capital Medical University, serves as the Principal Investigator (PI) of the leading unit.

Previously, VVN1901 eye drops had completed Phase I clinical research. The study results showed that single and multiple administrations of 10µg/ml, 20µg/ml, and 40µg/ml VVN1901 eye drops in healthy adult subjects in China resulted in almost no systemic exposure, demonstrating good safety and tolerability without unexpected safety issues.

Current treatment methods have not fundamentally solved the problem of corneal nerve damage, seriously affecting patients' health and quality of life. According to the expert consensus on NK diagnosis and treatment, nerve growth factor eye drops are considered one of the more promising treatments, representing a new approach. If VVN1901 eye drops are successfully launched, they will provide a new treatment option for NK patients and healthcare providers.

In the future, VIVAVISION will continue to strive for providing more comprehensive treatment solutions for ophthalmic diseases, steadily advancing its multi-pipeline and multi-series clinical research plans. It aims to offer patients and doctors more and better choices, benefiting more patients with eye conditions, and making every effort to help patients achieve bright eyes and a wonderful life!

About VVN1901

VVN1901 is a recombinant human nerve growth factor eye drop independently developed by VIVAVISION, with an indication for neurotrophic keratitis. Recombinant human nerve growth factor is a protein that nourishes neuronal cell bodies and promotes the growth of neuronal axons. It functions through the specific high-affinity receptor (tyrosine kinase receptor type I, also known as TrkA) and the non-specific low-affinity receptor (p75NTR) neurotrophic signaling pathways, playing a role in maintaining and differentiating neurons. It can effectively promote the repair and regeneration of corneal nerves.
