Recently, according to the official website of the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA), Qilu Pharmaceutical's Entacapone/Sinemet Tablets (II) (trade name: Shen Ke An)®) has received marketing approval from the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA),For the treatment of adult patients with Parkinson's disease who experience motor fluctuations at the end of a dose or whose symptoms are not controlled by levodopa/DDC inhibitor therapy.

Entacapone, Levodopa, and Carbidopa Tablets are a novel compound formulation for the treatment of Parkinson's disease, with components including levodopa, carbidopa, and entacapone. One of the main drugs, levodopa, is a precursor of dopamine and is currently the "gold standard" treatment for Parkinson's disease. However, after entering the body, levodopa is rapidly metabolized peripherally into dopamine and further metabolized, resulting in a limited amount reaching the central nervous system. Consequently, its single-agent formulation has more adverse reactions and less efficacy. The addition of entacapone and carbidopa canInhibiting the activities of peripheral catechol-O-methyltransferase and dopa decarboxylase respectively, further reducing the peripheral degradation of levodopa, increasing its brain entry level, and prolonging itsHalf-life, while reducing the production of dopamine peripherally, thereby effectively alleviating peripheral adverse reactions.Image
