In terms of news, on November 12, Laekna Therapeutics granted the rights of its breast cancer candidate drug LAE002 (afuresertib) in China to Qilu Pharmaceutical. LAE002 is one of only two AKT inhibitors globally in late-stage clinical development targeting breast and prostate cancers.
Public information shows that Laekna Therapeutics' LAE002 is a potent AKT inhibitor, capable of inhibiting all three AKT subtypes (AKT1, AKT2, and AKT3). Its development progress for HR+/HER2- breast cancer indications globally is second only to AstraZeneca's Capivasertib. According to broker research reports, the estimated peak sales of LAE002 in China are around 2 billion yuan, while its global peak sales can be benchmarked against Capivasertib. The sales forecast for Capivasertib this year is 700-800 million US dollars, with an expected peak sales of 1-2 billion US dollars.
