Shuimu Biosciences Snares ￥10M in Angel Round, Using Cryo-Electron Microscopy Technology for the Discovery Of New Drugs

According to 36Kr.com, Shuimu Biosciences Ltd. ("Shuimu Biosciences") has raised tens of millions of yuan in its angel round, jointly invested by Gaorong Capital, Puhua Capital, and Mint Angel Fund Investment. Wanshi Capital acted as the exclusive financial advisor in the latest round. As Dr. Guo Chunlong, co-founder and CEO of Shuimu Biosciences, said, proceeds from this round will mainly be used to consolidate the company's technical foundation.

Founded in late 2017 and headquartered in Beijing, China, Shuimu Biosciences focuses on the application of breakthrough technologies to improve the speed of new drug development and the drugability of difficult targets.

Guo Chunlong points out, since its establishment, Shuimu Biosciences has been built the commercial platform of structure analysis, with the 300kV cryo-electron microscopy as the core. Relying on the resources of Tsinghua University, independent R&D of revolutionary analytical methods in structural analysis, and drug discovery technology based on structure and calculation, Shuimu Biosciences has built a new generation of drug discovery platform, to provide validation for new drug targets, compound library screening, candidate discovery, R&D of therapeutic antibodies, and other comprehensive technical services for global pharmaceutical companies. 

The drug discovery platform can make up for the shortcomings of the traditional drug development, including the unknown structure of targets, strong randomness, long development cycle, and high cost. Based on relevant technologies, Shuimu Biosciences has served many top scientific research institutions and large domestic and multinational pharmaceutical enterprises.

It is reported that Shuimu Biosciences will launch the Series A round of financing in June this year to build a complete structure-driven new drug discovery platform matrix.
