Arthrosi and Sobi Reach $1.5 Billion Acquisition Deal After Completing $153 Million Series E Financing

Sweden, Stockholm – December 13, 2025, Swedish Orphan Biovitrum AB ("Sobi") announced that it has reached an acquisition agreement with Arthrosi Therapeutics, Inc. ("Arthrosi"), a company invested in and incubated by Viva Biotech. According to the terms of the agreement, Sobi will pay a total consideration of up to $1.5 billion for this acquisition, including a $950 million upfront payment (subject to customary adjustments) and up to $550 million in regulatory and commercial milestone payments. The transaction is expected to be completed in the first half of 2026.
On October 8, Arthrosi announced the completion of a $153 million Series E financing round. The proceeds from this round will be used to advance the clinical development of its core project, Pozdeutinurad (AR882), and complete the ongoing REDUCE 1 and REDUCE 2 Phase III clinical trials.

AmacaThera Signs Global Exclusive Licensing Agreement with Pacira, Total Deal Value Up to $230 Million

TORONTO, Canada – November 4, 2025 – AmacaThera, a leading developer of next-generation hydrogel drug delivery technology incubated and invested in by Viva Biotech, announced today the signing of a global exclusive licensing agreement with Pacira BioSciences, Inc. ("Pacira"), the industry leader in non-opioid pain management. The collaboration will focus on advancing and commercializing AMT-143, a long-acting non-opioid anesthetic for postoperative pain relief.
According to the agreement, AmacaThera will receive an upfront payment of $5 million and is eligible to receive up to $225 million in milestone payments based on future research and sales progress, as well as tiered sales royalties. Both parties will jointly advance the clinical development of AMT-143, with AmacaThera leading certain clinical trials, while Pacira will provide full funding for clinical development, manufacturing, and commercialization.
