Developer of Ophthalmic Disease Treatment Products

Recently, Suzhou Purevision Medical Technology Co., LTD. (hereinafter referred to as "Purevision Medical") announced the completion of a nearly RMB 100 million Series A financing round. The proceeds will be mainly used for clinical follow-up and registration applications of core products, construction of industrial production bases, establishment of market promotion teams, and further research and development expansion of subsequent product pipelines.

Suzhou Purevision Medical Technology Co., LTD. was founded in 2020 as a technology-based startup focusing on innovative ophthalmic medical devices. It is committed to building the world’s leading platform for minimally invasive ophthalmic treatment through original innovation. With the core concept of "combining medical expertise with engineering and being clinically driven," the company focuses on the field of Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS). It has developed an overall solution capability covering consumables, instruments, and surgical equipment, aiming to drive China's high-end ophthalmic devices from "catching up" to "keeping pace" and even "taking the lead."

Glaucoma is the world's leading cause of irreversible blindness, with over 20 million patients in China alone, and its incidence is increasing year by year. Traditional surgical treatments have many limitations, such as greater trauma and a high rate of complications. Minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), with its smaller incisions and higher safety, is becoming the mainstream trend in clinical treatment and industry development. However, in China, the MIGS products for glaucoma currently on the market are predominantly foreign brands. These products, developed by European and American companies for open-angle glaucoma, are not suitable for angle-closure glaucoma, which is more prevalent in Asia. To date, there are no products specifically targeting angle-closure glaucoma patients available on the market.

Purevision Medical has taken the lead in breaking through key technical bottlenecks and independently developed the AqueFish® Glaucoma Drainage Stent System, which has complete intellectual property rights. It is one of the few stent products in the world that can be used for both angle-closure glaucoma and open-angle glaucoma, filling the gap in this niche field in China and holding significant importance for glaucoma treatment. Based on a deeply integrated design concept of medicine and engineering, and building on an original glaucoma surgical procedure, the product combines fluid dynamics simulation with precision manufacturing of biocompatible materials to achieve minimally invasive and precise pressure reduction, broad indications, high success rates, and low complication rates. Early clinical observations across dozens of top-tier tertiary hospitals have demonstrated its excellent safety and efficacy.

In addition to its core product AqueFish®, Purevision Medical continues to deepen its expertise in the field of innovative ophthalmic medical devices, driving clinical innovation through the integration of medical and engineering expertise. Collaborating closely with ophthalmologists, the company has developed a series of innovative ophthalmic devices that not only address the surgical needs of glaucoma patients at all stages but also gradually expand into other ophthalmic treatment markets such as dry eye and cataracts, rapidly advancing the diversification of its product pipeline.

At the same time, the original AqueEel® multifunctional ophthalmic ablation system developed by Purevision Medical in cooperation with ophthalmology experts, which can cover all types of glaucoma in the early, middle, and late stages, as well as the new type of internal operation drainage stent product designed for minimally invasive treatment of early and mid-stage open-angle glaucoma—a future trend—are both accelerating through clinical validation. Notably, the highly oxygen-permeable siloxane material used in these products has successfully been included in the major special project jointly launched by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the National Medical Products Administration: the "Biomedical Materials Innovation Task Top Ranking" initiative. This not only demonstrates the company’s commitment to tackling key national biomedicine technologies but also highlights its technological leadership within the industry and recognition at the national strategic level.

Dr. Kan Min, founder and CEO of Purevision Medical, stated: "Our original intention in establishing Purevision Medical was to use original technology to develop minimally invasive products that truly suit Chinese ophthalmic patients, addressing their unmet needs. Over the past few years, we have completed the technical validation from 0 to 1. We will always adhere to the R&D path of 'combining medical and engineering expertise with a focus on clinical application,' enabling Chinese doctors to have their own high-end ophthalmic surgical tools and allowing more patients to receive safe and effective minimally invasive treatments."
