Industry Perspective:
Weekly Review. Last week (April 6 - April 10), the pharmaceuticals and biotechnology sector rose by 0.92%, underperforming the CSI 300 (4.41%) and Wind All A-share Index (5.15%). Among the sub-sectors, medical R&D outsourcing (4.09%), in vitro diagnostics (3.8%), and active pharmaceutical ingredients (3.46%) led the gains, while offline pharmacies (-1.82%), pharmaceutical distribution (-1.7%), and chemical pharmaceuticals (-0.94%) were the top losers. In terms of individual stocks, Meinovate (24%), Wanzeshare (23.1%), and Nanolive Science & Technology (23%) saw the largest increases, while *ST Changyao (-34.5%), Chendapharm (-24.3%), and Lianhe Pharmaceuticals (-18.5%) experienced the sharpest declines. Innovative medical devices enter a new phase of overseas expansion. Recently, Peijia Medical's self-developed GeminiOne Transcatheter Edge-to-Edge Repair (TEER) system successfully completed the first patient implantation in the FDA’s Early Feasibility Study (EFS) in the United States. This marks that China-produced structural heart disease devices have started to penetrate the U.S. market with the highest global entry barriers, driven by fundamental patent innovations. Almost simultaneously, Zylox-Tonbridge announced that its ZENFLEX peripheral vascular stent and ZYLOXUnicorn vascular closure device (the first domestically developed vascular closure device in China) received ANVISA registration approval in Brazil. We believe that the concurrent breakthroughs achieved by Peijia Medical and Zylox-Tonbridge signify that China-produced innovative medical devices are entering a new phase of overseas expansion, moving into a new era of globalization driven by fundamental innovation. Leveraging China’s abundant medical resources, engineering talent, and advantages in rapid product iteration, China-produced innovative medical devices are expected to replicate the leapfrogging path of China-produced innovative drugs from catching up to running neck-and-neck. It is recommended to monitor the subsequent clinical and registration progress of China-produced innovative medical device companies.
