Hu Weiwei delivered a speech on behalf of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. She stated,CogThe journal is rooted in cutting-edge interdisciplinary fields such as psychology, mental health, brain science, and China's excellent traditional culture, with cross-disciplinary integration as its distinctive feature. Its establishment represents an important practice by the university in deeply implementing the "Big Health" strategy and advancing the construction of a world-class university, which is crucial for enhancing the international discourse power and academic leadership of the discipline. She hopes that the journal will build itself into a world-class academic exchange platform based on the university’s disciplinary strengths and supported by international resources, contributing Jiaotong University’s wisdom and China’s strength to the global development of cognitive science.

HeCogWe extend our warm congratulations on the successful launch of the journal and express our heartfelt joy and gratitude for partnering with the School of Psychology at Shanghai Jiao Tong University to create this new journal. Yuan Tifei comprehensively introduced the Cog journal from aspects such as its founding background, journal positioning, academic foundation, team formation, and development planning. He stated that the School of Psychology at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, based on its own academic foundation and educational characteristics, took proactive steps and meticulously prepared for the journal's launch in collaboration with the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) under the guidance of the university’s Journal Center. This cooperation adheres to the principle of "Chinese leadership, international empowerment, and synergy between strong parties," aiming to create a globally leading interdisciplinary academic platform for brain science and cognitive science research.

Subsequently, Chu Xiaoying and Yuan Tifei, representing the American Association for the Advancement of Science and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, jointly signed the journal launch agreement, markingCogInternational Academic Journal Officially Launched. According to the agreement, both parties will closely collaborate and complement each other's strengths, jointly carrying out journal editing and publishing, academic operations, and international promotion. They will continuously gather top scholars and high-quality research from around the globe, steadily enhancing the journal's international influence, with the goal of co-creating a distinctive, world-class international academic journal.


Yang Jun and Wang Yushen, representing the Venus Charity Foundation and the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Education Development Foundation, jointly signed the donation agreement. Hu Weiwei presented Yang Jun with a donation certificate and a plaque of appreciation, thanking the Venus Charity Foundation for its strong support for the journal's launch and the development of Jiao Tong University's psychology discipline.

During the discussion session, participants engaged in in-depth discussions and reached consensus on key issues such as journal positioning, development planning, international communication, academic operations, and quality improvement. They unanimously expressed their intention to further strengthen collaboration, deepen pragmatic cooperation, jointly promote the high-quality development of journals, provide strong academic support for the Healthy China strategy, and make greater contributions to promoting global academic exchange.

Fu Xiaolan, representing the School of Psychology at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the Chinese Academy of Cultural Psychology, expressed gratitude for the strong support from the university, sibling institutions, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the Qi Ming Chen Charity Foundation, and proceeded toCogThree ideas for journal development: First, strengthen the foundation, adhere to quality as the core, promote digitalization and open access, and accelerate the dissemination of achievements; Second, lead the frontier, focus on interdisciplinary innovation and major practical issues, and promote the formation of innovative psychological theories with Chinese characteristics; Third, be open and inclusive, take this signing as an opportunity, deepen cooperation with the American Association for the Advancement of Science in jointly running journals, talent exchange, data sharing, etc., and strive to build the journal into an important platform for showcasing innovative achievements and connecting academic communities in China and abroad.

The Psychology Discipline of Shanghai Jiao Tong University was established in 2003, and the School of Psychology was officially founded in April 2024, establishing a "Psychology + AI + Excellent Traditional Chinese Culture" integrated education model with two supporting pillars. In August 2024, it signed a cooperation agreement with the Shanghai Mental Health Center, and in April 2025, the Chinese Cultural Psychology Research Institute was established. The institute actively promotes the deep integration of psychology with psychiatry, brain science, computer science, management, and other disciplines, striving to build China's independent innovation in psychology and an international academic discourse system.
