Recently, Shenzhen Third People's Hospital (Second Affiliated Hospital of Southern University of Science and Technology) (hereinafter referred to as "STPH") successfully passed the dual registration of the National Health Commission for somatic cell clinical research institutions and projects, becoming one of the first batch of registered units for somatic cell treatment clinical research in Shenzhen. The project uses NK010 injection prepared from natural NK cells to treat Alzheimer's disease, which is a cutting-edge technology in the field of neurodegenerative disease treatment and is expected to bring new hope to Alzheimer's patients and their families.
It is reported that the project approved for record-filing this time was led by Chief Physician Zhao Yu and Researcher Zhang Zheng from the Third People's Hospital of the city, in collaboration with Shanghai NK Cell Technology Co., Ltd. The project is titled "An Open, Controlled Clinical Study on the Safety and Preliminary Efficacy of NK010 Injection in Alzheimer's Disease (AD)." After one year and six months of application and evaluation, the project has officially passed the review by the National Health Commission and has been successfully included in the first batch of "Somatic Cell Therapy Clinical Research Record-filing Projects and Record-filing Units" in Shenzhen City.
The project uses NK010 injection prepared from natural NK cells to treat Alzheimer's disease, representing a cutting-edge technology in the field of neurodegenerative disease treatment. By 2025, international studies of similar approaches have achieved positive clinical outcomes. This project filing is expected not only to bring new hope for Alzheimer's patients and their families but also to pave the way for Shenzhen's cell and gene therapy (CGT) "15th Five-Year Plan" by establishing a path for scientific research transformation and building an industry innovation platform. The research team will continue to focus on the development of next-generation cell-based drugs and will further contribute original technical achievements from Shenzhen in areas such as major infectious diseases, cancer, and age-related diseases, supporting the innovative development of the biopharmaceutical industry.
In recent years, Shenzhen Third People's Hospital has formed a new pattern of high-quality development led by the "three major drivers" of infectious medicine, organ transplantation, and biotherapy. In the biotherapy sector, the hospital has comprehensively laid out frontier areas such as stem/progenitor cell therapy, exosomes, bacteriophages, and gut microbiome biotherapeutic technologies, with simultaneous multi-track progress and coordinated efforts. Not long ago, the hospital also collaborated with...CR SANJIUCR SANJIU Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. signs a strategic cooperation agreement to jointly build a Cell and Gene Therapy (CGT) joint laboratory, and simultaneously launches the first collaborative project, "Technical Development and Clinical Transformation of Unique Hair Growth/Blackening Exosomes," with both parties joining forces to advance in Shenzhen's Cell and Gene Therapy technology sector.
Next, the hospital will take this national-level "double filing" as a new starting point, strictly adhere to the principles of ethical norms, compliance, scientific rigor, safety, and patient benefit in carrying out related treatments. It will continue to deeply cultivate in the field of cell and gene therapy, constantly produce original research results, and bring new hope for treatment to patients.
