Beijing News Shell Finance News (Reporter Ding Shuang) "The essence of BD (Business Development) cooperation is to maximize asset value by introducing more experienced partners to share R&D achievements, fully explore product potential and market value, thereby maximizing the efficiency of resource allocation. It should not be simply regarded as 'selling green seedlings'." On May 21, at the J.P.Morgan Global China Summit,CHANGCHUN HIGH-TECHJin Lei, General Manager and founder of GenSci, said.

In terms of specific development strategies, he emphasized the need to focus on molecules and refined management, find suitable partners, jointly identify and amplify the core value of products, and achieve genuine innovative breakthroughs.

By 2025, the total transaction value of China's innovative drug exports exceeded 100 billion US dollars, with over a hundred transactions. The cooperation model has gradually shifted from single licensing to a deeply collaborative phase of joint development, shared risks, and shared benefits.

In December of the same year, GenSci reached an exclusive licensing agreement with Yarrow Bioscience for GenSci098, with total milestone payments reaching $1.365 billion. This marks GenSci's first externally licensed pipeline. GenSci098 Injection is a humanized thyroid-stimulating hormone receptor (TSHR) antagonistic monoclonal antibody independently developed by GenSci, classified as a Class 1 new therapeutic biologic product. The drug is currently in Phase I clinical development for the treatment of Thyroid Eye Disease (TED) and Graves' Disease (GD).

Behind the First BD Achievement, GenSci Is Attempting to Transition from a Growth Hormone Leader to an Innovative Pharmaceutical Company. Currently, the company has expanded its business into treatment areas such as gout, assisted reproduction, and allergies, and has developed the first domestically produced fully human anti-IL-1β monoclonal antibody for the treatment of acute gouty arthritis. In the first quarter of 2026, GenSci's revenue reached 2.139 billion yuan, with innovative drugs accounting for nearly 70% of its income.
