At the EuroPCR 2026 seminar focusing on vascular pre-treatment, DK Medtech gathered a globally renowned team of experts to facilitateSCORE CHINA Registration StudyDemonstrated compelling clinical evidence and practical application strategies, illustrating the superior efficacy of an entirely original design directional scoring balloon in optimizing lesion preparation. This seminar, titled "Focus on DK Score™ Pro: Innovation, Evidence, and Daily Practice," explored a key paradigm shift update in the field of coronary intervention: the evolution towards highly controllable vascular preparation and the concept of interventional procedures without implants.

Meeting Highlights

This seminar was co-chaired by Dr. Azeem Latib from Montefiore Medical Center in the United States and Professor Liu Bin from Bethune Second Hospital of Jilin University in China, leading global experts to explore how directional notching technology can break through the traditional limitations of complex lesions.

A major highlight of the seminar was the interventional pioneer Dr.An in-depth thematic report by Antonio Colombo (Istituto Clinico Humanitas, Italy). Dr. Colombo discussed the strategic application of specialty balloons in calcified, fibrotic, and bifurcation lesions, as well as their crucial role in vessel pre-treatment. His presentation highlighted the clinical impact of the COPS (Cutting Balloon Optimization for Pre-dilation in Stenting) study, which rigorously evaluated and extrapolated the role of specialty balloons in treating moderate to severe coronary artery calcification.

In addition, Dr. Colombo demonstrated how a high-pressure dilation strategy combined with a directional scoring mechanism can effectively rupture severe calcification and create predictable lumen gain while minimizing vascular trauma. Importantly, he emphasized that robust vessel pre-treatment using specialized balloons is no longer an optional step but an absolute prerequisite for the successful implementation of drug-coated balloon therapy—ensuring uniform plaque modification, maximizing lumen area preparation, and shifting everyday clinical decision-making toward the superior concept of drug balloon treatment.

Academic Consensus

The seminar also showcased significant registration studies and clinical deployment strategies:

  • SCORE CHINA Registry Study: Dr. Zhijian Wang from Beijing Anzhen Hospital, Capital Medical University, presented outstanding data from the SCORE CHINA registry study, validating that the Directional Scoring Balloon DK Score™ Pro demonstrates high procedural success rates, excellent safety, and predictable luminal gain compared to the control group's SeQuent Please balloon, in both de novo lesions and in-stent restenosis (ISR) lesions.

  • Optimizing Stentless PCI: Dr. Glendon Lau from Sultan Idris Shah Hospital (Serdang Hospital) in Malaysia shared clinical procedural strategies for achieving optimal lesion morphology using DK Score™ Pro. He emphasized that uniform vessel pre-treatment maximizes immediate lumen area, enabling highly successful drug-coated balloon therapy without the need for stent implantation.

As panelists, Dr. Alfonso Jurado (Spain), Dr. Bharat Khialani (Singapore), and Dr. Louis Verreault-Julien (USA) also shared their perspectives and reached an effective consensus: the new generation of specialized balloons represented by DK Score™ Pro.Through the expansion mechanism of directional notching, it significantly reduces the risk of dissection while enhancing instrument passability, achieving the maximized versatility of vascular pre-treatment and redefining complex lesion pre-treatment.
