Shanghai Securities News (Reporter Song Weiping) — At the Second Academic Annual Meeting of the Brain-Computer Fusion and Neuroregulation Branch of the Shanghai Medical Association, recently held in Shanghai, Neuracle's pioneering implantable brain-computer interface system for hand motor function compensation (hereinafter referred to as NEO) was officially unveiled.
According to reports, as the world's first implantable brain-computer interface medical device approved by the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) for marketing in China, the implementation of NEO marks a breakthrough leap in China’s invasive brain-computer interface technology from scientific research exploration to compliant clinical popularization. It provides an entirely new compliant diagnosis and treatment solution for functional reconstruction and quality-of-life improvement in patients with spinal cord injuries and motor dysfunction.
During the exhibition held concurrently with the conference, Neuracle officially released DA materials for two new products — the Implantable Brain-Computer Interface Hand Motor Function Compensation System (NEO) and the Real-Time EEG Functional Localization Device (OFM). Among them, NEO has completed its preliminary demonstration, and this is the first official release of its authoritative color page, systematically disclosing the core technical highlights.
Neuracle stated that NEO ensures long-term safety with its epidural non-invasive implant design, relies on self-developed algorithms to accurately decode motor intentions, and is suitable for patients with cervical spinal cord injuries resulting in quadriplegia, effectively aiding in the reconstruction of hand grasping functions. OFM is a brain function mapping auxiliary system designed for neurosurgery and invasive brain-computer interface implantation procedures. These two products work in deep synergy, establishing a comprehensive, closed-loop clinical application system covering preoperative precise planning, intraoperative real-time functional mapping, postoperative functional compensation, and long-term rehabilitation follow-up.
Mao Ying, President of Huashan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University, released the NEO multi-center real-world clinical application data on-site and announced the official launch of the NEO National Clinical Special Training Program. According to reports, this training relies on the industry's first comprehensive training system and standardized SOP norms for implantable brain-computer interface clinical applications, covering the entire process and all roles. Based on the mature clinical experience of 11 multi-center pilot hospitals, the standardized surgical procedures, diagnostic and treatment processes, and rehabilitation systems will be promoted across China. This systematic effort empowers more neurosurgeons to master NEO minimally invasive implantation surgery and the full-process clinical application capabilities, further expanding the coverage of standardized diagnosis and treatment. It lays an academic foundation and talent support for the nationwide standardized implementation and large-scale accessibility of the product in China.
Neuracle stated that the company will strictly adhere to medical compliance standards, uphold rigorous academic principles, and focus on the fields of neurorehabilitation and brain function reconstruction. Leveraging its comprehensive product portfolio that now covers the entire field of brain science, the company will continue to deepen its research and improve quality. Neuracle will also further explore the development of products for indications such as pathological disorders of consciousness, severe depression, and Alzheimer's disease, continuously expanding its lineup of neuromodulation-based brain-computer interface (BCI) solutions. At the same time, the company will refine and enhance established clinical application protocols, distilling practical guidelines that can serve as industry references. With its first-mover advantage, Neuracle aims to promote steady progress within the industry, working alongside medical institutions across China to accelerate the compliant implementation and widespread adoption of BCI technology. Backed by its independently developed core scientific and technological capabilities, the company is committed to driving the vigorous growth of the neurology medical industry, fully supporting the advancement of China’s Brain Project, and dedicating itself to illuminating the path to recovery for patients with neurological disorders.
