Dr. Qunsheng Ji, CEO of Sirius Therapeutics, stated:
Patrick is a seasoned talent in the pharmaceutical industry. He has extensive and successful experience in leading the clinical development of innovative drugs, including in the field of anticoagulation therapy, and has played a core role in the development and market approval of multiple products in the United States and globally. The marketed products he has led the development of include ANDEXXA® (Factor Xa [Recombinant]) and voxelotor (Voxelotor). Currently, Sirius Therapeutics' siRNA project is about to enter the mid-stage clinical development phase, and other early-stage projects will gradually move into clinical development. Patrick’s addition comes at just the right time.
Dr. Yu has extensive leadership experience in the clinical development of innovative therapies. Prior to joining Sirius Therapeutics, he served as Senior Vice President of Clinical Development at Centessa Pharmaceuticals, where he led the development of SerpinPC in Phase 2b/3 clinical trials and ORX-750 in Phase 1 clinical trials. SerpinPC is an inhibitor of activated protein C for the treatment of hemophilia, while ORX-750 is an OX2R agonist for the treatment of narcolepsy. Before joining Centessa, Dr. Yu held the roles of Head of Clinical Science and Vice President at Global Blood Therapeutics (GBT), which was acquired by Pfizer in 2022. During his tenure, he was responsible for the clinical development of four products, including the EU market approval of voxelotor (OXBRYTA®) for the treatment of sickle cell disease and its pediatric indication expansion in the United States. Previously, he held clinical development management positions at Portola Pharmaceuticals, Alexion Pharmaceuticals, and Gilead Sciences in the United States.
Before joining the pharmaceutical industry, Dr. Yu completed his clinical internship and residency training at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard University, in the United States. He then received specialized training in cardiovascular clinical medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Yu holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry from the California Institute of Technology and a Doctor of Medicine degree from Washington University School of Medicine.
