Medtronic's First Overseas Global IT Center – The Medtronic Engineering and Innovation Center (MEIC) in Hyderabad Officially Inaugurated in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. Medtronic plans to invest 60 million US dollars over the next 3-5 years, creating 300 job opportunities. The newly expanded MEIC has a total investment of 160 million US dollars, covering an area of over 250,000 square feet, with more than 900 engineers currently employed, making it the largest R&D center outside the United States for Medtronic.

The new IT hub focuses on cutting-edge technologies such as cloud engineering, data platforms, digital health applications, hyper-automation, and AI/ML. Medtronic stated in relevant media: "We look forward to continuing our collaborative efforts to fulfill our mission of alleviating pain, restoring health, and extending life for patients worldwide."
In 2021, Medtronic announced the opening of a newly expanded 150,000-square-foot R&D center in Hyderabad. Medtronic stated that it would invest $160 million over the next five years to make Hyderabad its largest R&D center outside the United States. At that time, the company expected the center’s workforce to reach 1,000 employees.

The inauguration ceremony held in Hyderabad invited several important figures from India, including Shri D Sridhar Babu, Minister of Information Technology, Industries, and Commerce of the Telangana Government; Jennifer Larson, U.S. Consul General; Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary of the Information Technology, Electronics & Communications (ITE&C) and Industries & Commerce Departments of the Telangana Government; Shakthi M Nagappan, Director of Life Sciences and Pharmaceuticals of the Telangana Government; V. Madhusudan, CEO of TGIIC; Rashmi Kumar, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Medtronic; and Divya Prakash J., Vice President of MEIC and Site Lead.
