On July 16, Eisai's official website announced that the company had reached a licensing agreement with Sato Pharmaceutical, granting Sato Pharmaceutical exclusive rights to develop and commercialize the antifungal agent Fosravuconazole in Asia and Oceania. According to the terms of the agreement, Eisai exclusively licensed the intellectual property rights of Fosravuconazole in specified countries and regions to Sato Pharmaceutical.

The active ingredient of Fosravuconazole is Ravuconazole (Ravuconazole) is an antifungal drug developed by Eisai. As a prodrug of Ravuconazole, Fosravuconazole significantly enhances its solubility and bioavailability. In Japan, Seren Pharmaceutical and Sato Pharmaceutical developed Fosravuconazole based on the exclusive development, commercialization, and sublicensing rights granted by Eisai. Since July 2018, Sato Pharmaceutical has been using the drug to treat onychomycosis, with co-promotion by Eisai.
According to the terms of the agreement, Eisai will receive an upfront payment and is entitled to receive regulatory milestone payments and sales royalties based on sales within a specified period. Additionally, Eisai will retain the rights for the development and commercialization related to ergotism and its associated conditions.
By signing this agreement, Eisai hopes to maximize the value of Fosravuconazole in the Asia/Oceania region and contribute to patients in need of the drug.
