Novartis Enters $3 Billion Strategic Collaboration with Dren Bio to Advance Bispecific Antibody Therapies for Cancer

Dren Bio, Inc., a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing antibody therapies for cancer, autoimmune disorders, and other serious diseases, announced,A strategic partnership has been reached with Novartis' subsidiary, Novartis Pharma AG. This collaboration will focus on utilizing Dren Bio's proprietary Targeted Myeloid Engager and Phagocytosis platforms to discover and develop bispecific antibodies for cancer treatment.

 

According to the terms of the agreement,Dren Bio to Receive $150 Million Upfront Payment from Novartis, Including a $25 Million Equity Investment in the Company. Dren Bio is also eligible to receive up to $2.85 billion in additional cash payments upon achieving certain preclinical, clinical, regulatory, and commercial milestones, as well as tiered royalties on future net sales of any commercialized products resulting from the collaboration. The total value of this collaboration deal could reach up to $3 billion (approximately 21.64 billion RMB).

 

Dren Bio and Novartis will collaborate to advance selected targeted myeloid engagement programs in oncology through clinical candidate selection, at which point Novartis will assume full responsibility for all remaining development, manufacturing, regulatory, and commercialization activities.

 

Novartis Biomedical Research Global Head of Oncology, Dr. Shiva Malek, stated: "Our agreement with Dren Bio provides us with an excellent opportunity to discover novel bispecific antibody cancer therapies, reinforcing our long-standing expertise in immuno-oncology. We are excited to collaborate on offering new treatment options for cancer patients, complementing our strategic efforts across targeted therapies, biologics, radioligand therapies, and CAR-T, among other modalities."
