
On August 2, Eisai announced its Q1 (April-June) financial report for the fiscal year 2024, with a total revenue of 189 billion yen (approximately USD 1.236 billion at an exchange rate of 1 USD = 152.91 JPY), representing a year-on-year decrease of 4%. Among this, the performance in China was 30.2 billion yen (approximately USD 197 million).Among them, Eisai's three key products, Lenvima (lenvatinib), Leqembi (lecanemab), and Dayvigo (lemborexant), generated a total revenue of 101.9 billion yen (approximately 6.66 billion U.S. dollars), representing a year-on-year increase of 27%.Eisai's Aβ-Targeted Therapy for Alzheimer's Disease (AD), Leqembi (Lecanemab), Achieves Growth with Sales of 6.3 Billion Yen (Approx. $41 Million) in the Past Three Months, Including 4.3 Billion Yen (Approx. $28 Million) from the U.S. Market as the Largest Contributor. Lecanemab Generated a Total Revenue of 9.1 Billion Yen (Approx. $60 Million) in the First Half of 2024.Eisai predicts that the global revenue of Lecanemab will reach 56.5 billion yen (approximately 370 million US dollars) in the fiscal year 2024. Lecanemab has been approved successively in the United States, Japan, and China since 2023. Eisai expects that China may become the second largest market after the United States.On July 31, the latest Phase III Clarity AD study results of lecanemab were announced at the Alzheimer's Association International Conference (AAIC): compared with placebo, the Clinical Dementia Rating-Sum of Boxes (CDR-SB) score of patients treated with lecanemab for 3 years decreased by 0.95, demonstrating sustained clinical benefits for early AD patients. Among early AD patients with no tau protein or low tau protein levels, after three years of lecanemab treatment, 51% (21/41) showed improvement in CDR-SB scores from baseline.Multi-target Receptor Tyrosine Kinase (RTK) inhibitor Lenvima/Kisplyx (lenvatinib), a key oncology product of Eisai, generated revenue of 83.5 billion yen (approximately 5.46 billion USD) in the past three months, marking an 18% year-on-year increase. In the first half of 2024, lenvatinib achieved total revenue of 158 billion yen (10.33 billion USD), with revenue from the Chinese market reaching 12.8 billion yen (approximately 0.84 billion USD).Eisai is conducting several Phase III clinical trials to expand the indications of lenvatinib in upper gastrointestinal cancers, including: LEAP-012, LEAP-014, and LEAP-015 studies.In Q1 2024 (April-June), Eisai's insomnia drug, the OX1R/OX2R antagonist Dayvigo (lemborexant), generated revenue of 12.1 billion yen (approximately 79 million USD), representing a 29% year-over-year increase. The total revenue for the first half of the year amounted to 22.7 billion yen (approximately 148 million USD).
