Gelonghui August 26th | According to Reuters, Johnson & Johnson stated last Friday that it was in talks with plaintiffs' lawyers in an attempt to resolve opposition to its proposed settlement of lawsuits alleging that its baby powder and other talc products caused cancer. Johnson & Johnson announced plans to ultimately reach a $6.48 billion global settlement agreement through the bankruptcy of its subsidiary. The company’s previous efforts had been rejected twice by federal courts. Johnson & Johnson stated that most plaintiffs supported its settlement plan. However, it temporarily suspended the vote counting process to gather more votes from plaintiffs who had opposed the agreement until recently.
