On September 3, 2024, Sanofi registered a Phase I clinical trial for the RSV/MPV combined vaccine on the Clinicaltrials.gov website.

This Phase I clinical trial plans to enroll 390 healthy subjects to explore various dosage regimens of RSV/MPV, with an expected completion date of July 2025.

Sanofi has made extensive arrangements around RSV. The RSV neutralizing antibody has been approved for marketing to prevent neonatal infections, and the RSV live attenuated vaccine has entered phase III clinical trials to prevent infections during the second epidemic season in newborns. For the elderly, Sanofi has chosen to focus on mRNA with the goal of developing an RSV/MPV/PIV trivalent vaccine.

Sanofi's RSV mRNA vaccine is in phase II clinical trials, with the ultimate goal of developing a respiratory multivalent mRNA vaccine.

Summary
mRNA vaccines have a natural advantage in the development of combination vaccines. Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna, GlaxoSmithKline, and Sanofi are all laying out plans for respiratory virus combination vaccines. AstraZeneca has introduced Isocovax's RSV/MPV protein combination vaccine.
