On September 10, 2024, Johnson & Johnson stated that it is integrating its many medical technology brands under one banner to further streamline the company's brand presentation.
In the future, Ethicon, DePuy Synthes, Biosense Webster, Abiomed, and Cerenovus, all under the group, will operate under the name of Johnson & Johnson MedTech. Johnson & Johnson stated that this move will not bring any changes to its various product portfolios.
Johnson & Johnson has announced the integration of its medical technology brands Ethicon, DePuy Synthes, Biosense Webster, Abiomed, and Cerenovus under a unified brand, Johnson & Johnson MedTech.
This brand integration will not affect the medical technology products and solutions currently provided to customers by these brands. This change will begin to be reflected in social media channels and marketing materials in the coming weeks, and the updated brand and visual identity will not impact the Johnson & Johnson Medical Technologies product portfolio.
Johnson & Johnson aims to more clearly demonstrate its influence in the healthcare field through this integration initiative, thereby strengthening its competitiveness. At the same time, this move will also help streamline the company's overall brand image, making it easier for consumers and partners to recognize and understand the different businesses and products under Johnson & Johnson.
The announcement did not mention whether there would be any changes to Johnson & Johnson Vision (the division of Johnson & Johnson dedicated to ophthalmic operations), nor did it mention breast implant manufacturer Mentor and the acquired Shockwave Medical.
Tim Schmid, Chairman of Johnson & Johnson’s Global Medical Technology Business, said in a statement this week:
"Ethicon, DePuy Synthes, Biosense Webster, Abiomed, and CERENOVUS will be renamed as Johnson & Johnson Medical Technology Company, but we will continue to honor the heritage of these brands, maintaining their products, services, and collaborative approaches, making them one of the most trusted brands in the medical field."
