Medtronic, a global medical technology company, is participating for the first time in the 2024 China International Fair for Trade in Services (hereinafter referred to as "CIFTIS") with over 60 innovative exhibits and solutions, comprehensively showcasing its 75 years of global innovation and 35 years of innovation achievements in China. Medtronic aims to continuously empower the development of new quality productivity in healthcare and promote the high-quality development of China's healthcare system.
Driven by new quality productive forces, medical technologies and solutions are bringing remarkable changes to patients in China. At this year’s exhibition, with “New Quality Productive Forces in Healthcare” as the core theme, Medtronic's exhibits cover fields such as cardiac rhythm management, cardiac surgery, cardiac ablation, structural heart disease, aortic and peripheral vascular health, coronary and renal artery sympathetic nerve ablation, orthopedics and neurosurgery, as well as general surgery. Among them, three innovative exhibits stand out for their transformative role in advancing disease treatment through innovative technologies: the Aurora EV-ICD System, an extravascular implantable cardioverter defibrillator* that places electrodes under the sternum, breaking decades of traditional treatment pathways for implantable cardioverter defibrillators, striving to become a "portable AED" for high-risk patients of sudden cardiac death; the Signia Stapling Platform with intelligent chip technology, integrating smart sensing, precise firing, and eco-friendly features into one system, acting as a "thinking" and "judging" super assistant during surgical procedures; and the zero-metal artificial heart valve Avalus, which provides patients with greater convenience for subsequent examinations, aiming to be the long-term "heart guardian" for patient health.
In addition, Medtronic's efforts to develop new quality productivity also focus on serving common diseases in China that have high incidence rates and significant social impact. According to the "China Hypertension Prevention and Control Status Blue Paper 2018," the number of adult patients in China is expected to reach 358 million. The Medtronic Symplicity Spyral RDN system addresses challenges beyond hypertension medication through interventional procedures, thereby reducing the complexity of disease management. Similarly, the cardiac pulsed field ablation product PulseSelect, along with the ClosureFast endovenous radiofrequency ablation catheter, aim to improve the quality of life for approximately 12 million atrial fibrillation patients and nearly 100 million potential varicose vein patients in China through technological innovation.
In China, for China. Medtronic supports the development of new quality productivity by continuously providing innovative services and disease solutions tailored to local market needs. The MyCareLink implantable cardiac electronic device monitor showcased at this year's China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) is one such representative. Each year, the total number of cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIEDs) implanted exceeds 100,000 cases, with regular postoperative follow-up and device programming being crucial measures to ensure "peace of heart." To meet the high-quality development requirements of medical services, help alleviate the increasing pressure of clinical follow-up work, address challenges in follow-up report management, and provide new technologies for hierarchical diagnosis and treatment, offering smart new approaches for postoperative management, Medtronic has designed and launched MyCareLink for Chinese patients. It is currently the leading CIED remote follow-up system with a local server in China, benefiting thousands of domestic cardiac patients.
In addition, the rapid development of big data and artificial intelligence has also driven iterative innovation in the medical field. Medtronic's AiBLE Digital Intelligence Orthopedics and Neurosurgery Innovation Ecosystem is pushing spinal surgery and neurosurgery into an AI-powered, intelligently interconnected era of full-course disease management. The AiBLE Digital Intelligence Ecosystem organically integrates data and artificial intelligence, a surgical robot platform, navigation platforms, intraoperative imaging systems, surgical power tools, intraoperative ultrasound and nerve monitoring, as well as implants and bone repair materials, providing comprehensive solutions covering the entire process from patient diagnosis, preoperative planning, intraoperative execution, postoperative follow-up, to clinical feedback. It continuously promotes the innovation of spinal and neurosurgical therapies and the improvement of disciplinary diagnostic and treatment standards.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of Medtronic's global innovation and the 35th milestone of its comprehensive development in China. Medtronic continues to deepen and refine its full value chain layout, including R&D, production, sales, training, after-sales service, and investment funds. In recent years, relying on the Linyang Medical Technology Industrial Base, Kanghui Changzhou Science and Technology Park, and dual innovation centers in Shanghai and Chengdu, Medtronic has actively built world-leading innovation hubs, vigorously promoting professional empowerment in healthcare and new productive forces. At the same time, Medtronic is actively integrating into the local ecosystem, committed to stimulating more innovative capabilities and services through extensive and deep collaborations, bringing tailored solutions to patients in China.
"Medtronic actively participates in national-level exhibitions such as the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) and the China International Import Expo (CIIE). These platforms provide valuable opportunities for multinational companies to engage in openness, exchange, and cooperation. While looking forward to sharing the opportunities in China, we aim to fully leverage our global advantages and act as a bridge to drive high-quality development in China's healthcare industry, with new quality productivity serving as the core driving force."Medtronic Global Senior Vice President and Greater China President Gu Yushao stated"China's large population base, unmet medical needs, and the Chinese government's emphasis on people's health all make the Chinese market hold tremendous potential. Medtronic has always been optimistic about the Chinese market and hopes to further strengthen the local value chain layout in the future to provide higher-quality medical services for Chinese patients."
