Data from Pharma Intelligence Cloud (www.pharnexcloud.com) shows:On September 12, 2024, Eli Lilly sold the majority stake of its automated laboratory, Life Sciences Studio, located in San Diego, to Arctoris, a CRO company headquartered in Oxford. In 2017, Eli Lilly invested approximately $90 million to establish Life Sciences Studio. Previously, Strateos operated and maintained the lab for Eli Lilly, which spans an area of about 11,500 square feet. Arctoris stated that it will continue to expand robotic automation modules, automated BSL-2 cell biology modules, and increase compound storage capacity to 4 million compounds. This is a complementary asset collaboration.

From AI-powered drug screening to being synthesized in automated laboratories, followed by a series of biochemical, cellular, pharmacological, and pharmacokinetic tests to verify molecular activity and drug-likeness, and continuously optimizing molecular design through model iteration,Combination of Dry and WetMay be a better ideal type for new drug development.

Arctoris was first established in 2016. It is reported to be the first company in the global market to provide a fully automated drug discovery platform, where robots can perform various tests, while enabling academic institutions and biotechnology companies to remotely monitor experiments in real time. In July 2020, Insilico Medicine, a leading AI pharmaceutical company, announced a technical partnership with Arctoris.

The 11,500-square-foot Science Studio, managed by lab automation provider Strateos, was developed by Lilly with a $90 million investment in 2017 to enhance its research presence in San Diego. This state-of-the-art lab seamlessly combined various drug discovery processes into a fully automated platform, encompassing design, synthesis, purification, analysis, sample management, and hypothesis testing.
