Recently, Suzhou Ribo Life Science Co., Ltd. (referred to as "Ribo Life Science") independently developed the siRNA drug RBD7007 targeting C5, which has received EU clinical trial approval and will initiate its first human clinical trial in Sweden.C5, as one of the key components of the complement system, plays a role in innate immunity, participates in immune protection of the body, and modulates adaptive immune responses. The development and progression of various immune and complement-related diseases, including IgA nephropathy and other complement immune-related conditions, have been confirmed to be associated with the abnormal activation of C5. However, currently approved antibody drugs targeting C5 face challenges such as short half-life and limited duration of sustained efficacy.RBD7007 is an siRNA drug independently developed by Ribo Life Science based on its RIBO-GalSTARTM liver-targeting technology platform, targeting C5 to inhibit C5 protein expression and block complement pathway activation, thereby achieving its therapeutic effect on complement-mediated diseases. Preclinical trial data show that RBD7007 has a persistent and potent inhibitory effect on complement pathway activation while demonstrating good safety, with the expectation of bringing significant therapeutic benefits to patients with IgA nephropathy and other complement-mediated diseases. This Phase I clinical trial is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase I study designed to evaluate the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics of RBD7007 in healthy subjects with single-dose escalation and multiple-dose escalation. The results of this trial will support dose selection and the determination of dosing regimens for patients in future Phase II clinical trials.Ribo Life Science has multiple siRNA drugs based on RIBO-GalSTARTM that have entered the clinical stage, covering disease areas including cardiometabolic disorders, liver diseases, and immune diseases. Ribo Life Science will continue to deepen its efforts and provide patients with more innovative siRNA drugs.Suzhou Ribo Life Science Co., Ltd. (referred to as "Ribo Life Science") is an innovative R&D company dedicated to developing RNA interference (RNAi) drugs and is a leading pioneer and major player in China’s small nucleic acid technology and small nucleic acid pharmaceuticals industry. The company’s headquarters is located in Kunshan, Jiangsu, with R&D centers in Beijing and Gothenburg, Sweden.Ribo Life Science benchmarks the innovative frontier of international small nucleic acid technology, committing to the iterative research and development of small nucleic acid chemical modification and drug delivery technologies. It has established an independent, controllable, and fully integrated small nucleic acid drug R&D platform that supports the entire lifecycle of small nucleic acid drugs from early-stage R&D to industrialization. Its self-developed GalNAc small nucleic acid drug delivery technology platform, RIBO-GalSTARTM, features highly specific liver targeting, high efficiency, and long-lasting effects, reaching an internationally competitive level. Additionally, significant progress has been made in extrahepatic delivery, further supporting the company’s global development strategy based on innovation and differentiation.Source: Ribo Life Science
