Recently,Amgen announced that its innovative oral targeted drug Otezla (English name: Otezla; generic name: Apremilast Tablets) has been approved by the National Medical Products Administration.For the treatment of adult patients with moderate to severe plaque psoriasis who are candidates for phototherapy or systemic therapy.

It is reported that Apremilast is the first and currently the only oral phosphodiesterase 4 (PDE4) inhibitor approved in China for the treatment of plaque psoriasis. It is taken orally twice daily, one tablet each time, without the need for pre-treatment screening or routine laboratory monitoring.

Globally, apremilast tablets have been approved in more than 50 countries and markets.Its approved indications in the United States include the treatment of adult patients with active psoriatic arthritis, the treatment of adult patients with moderate to severe plaque psoriasis who are candidates for phototherapy or systemic therapy, and the treatment of adult patients with oral ulcers associated with Behçet's disease.

Currently, there are approximately 6.5 million psoriasis patients in China,Approximately 57.3% of patients are moderate to severe. According to a multinational study on psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis published in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, 57% of patients using conventional oral treatments and 45% of patients using biologics discontinued treatment due to issues related to drug safety, tolerability, or efficacy.
