Gelonghui September 24 | According to Reuters, Sanofi CEO Paul Hudson said in an interview on Monday that the company is poised for strong growth through a variety of new drugs and will not face the same challenges as some competitors with blockbuster products nearing patent expiration and high costs. The company has 12 potential blockbuster assets in immunology and vaccines, with no major patents expiring before the end of the decade. Although Sanofi has yet to enter the lucrative obesity drug market, Hudson stated that the company does not intend to create "generic versions" of GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic or Mounjaro. "We have undisclosed projects internally and are investing in third parties with opportunities," he said. Regarding the consumer healthcare division Opella, Hudson mentioned that options under consideration include spinning off, selling the unit, or pursuing an IPO.
