2024 is a crucial year for achieving the goals and tasks of the "14th Five-Year Plan," as well as an important year for reform, innovation, strengthening foundations, and overall improvement in the health care sector. This year's government work report also explicitly proposed to enhance medical and health service capabilities, continue to focus on the prevention and control of key infectious diseases, improve the disease prevention and control system, and build a strong defense line for people's health. Therefore, the disease prevention and control system is an important guarantee for protecting people’s health, ensuring public health security, and maintaining economic and social stability.

Jean-Christophe Pointeau, President of Pfizer China, Chairman of the Executive Committee of RDPAC, and Vice President of the China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment, stated: "Pfizer has been rooted in China for 35 years, consistently fulfilling its mission to 'bring breakthrough innovations that change patients' lives.' Shanghai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. is a national modern pharmaceutical supply chain service enterprise centered on healthcare services. Its subsidiary, Shanghai Pharma Keyuan Trade, possesses a comprehensive marketing network and strong market service capabilities. Through this collaboration, the two parties will leverage their respective strengths to promote and popularize innovative vaccines with scientific empowerment, allowing internationally leading innovative vaccines to benefit more people in China, comprehensively improving the health standards of the population, and becoming a new productive force in the reform of the disease control system, contributing to the realization of the strategic goals of 'Healthy China 2030.'"
Li Yongzhong, Executive Director and CEO of Shanghai Pharmaceuticals, stated: “Since the ‘14th Five-Year Plan,’ under the guidance of favorable policies, China’s biopharmaceutical industry has entered a ‘fast lane’ of development, achieving comprehensive progress. As one of the largest importers of pharmaceuticals and vaccines in China, Shanghai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. takes the needs of Chinese patients as its mission. We actively seek cooperation with multinational pharmaceutical companies to accelerate the introduction of innovative global medicines, enabling Chinese patients to access high-quality products domestically. This improves the accessibility of healthcare services in China and allows more internationally leading vaccine products to quickly reach ‘ordinary households.’ Pfizer is a science-based, innovative, patient-first biopharmaceutical company with extensive global medical resources and a rich pipeline of innovative products. We are delighted to partner with Pfizer to further enhance the coverage and accessibility of innovative vaccines, improve the quality of immunization services across the entire life cycle, and establish a new model of equitable, systematic, and sustainable preventive immunization health services. This will benefit more Chinese patients and support the reform of China’s healthcare system and the development of public health initiatives.”
