Johnson & Johnson (J&J) recently shared that its medical technology business – including Cerenovus, Biosense Webster, Abiomed, DePuy Synthes, and Ethicon – will now be named 'Johnson & Johnson MedTech'.
According to the company's press release, this move "highlights J&J's leadership in the medical technology field, focusing on cardiovascular, orthopedic, surgical, and vision solutions," and is the next step in J&J's brand and visual identity update — initially announced in September 2023.
Looking ahead, Cerenovus will be known as 'Johnson & Johnson MedTech Neurovascular', while the brand name of Biosense Webster has been updated to 'Johnson & Johnson MedTech Electrophysiology'.
However, the press release added that the announcement has no impact on the medical technology products and solutions currently provided to customers.
"At Johnson & Johnson, we are addressing some of the biggest unmet needs in healthcare through innovative medicine and medical technology," said Tim Schmid, Executive Vice President and Global Chair of Johnson & Johnson Medical Technologies. "By integrating our medical technology business under the J&J name, the scale of our impact in healthcare will become even more evident, unlocking new opportunities to enhance our competitiveness."
"While Ethicon, DePuy Synthes, Biosense Webster, Abiomed, and Cerenovus will now be renamed Johnson & Johnson MedTech, we will continue to honor the legacy of these brands by maintaining the products, services, and collaborative approaches that have made them the most trusted brands in healthcare."
Partners, customers, and consumers will begin to see this change "come to life" on social media channels and marketing materials in the coming weeks, J&J's recent release notes, and reaffirms that its updated brand and visual identity will not have any impact on Johnson & Johnson MedTech's portfolio.
